Good AA rpg/open world?
Can anybody recommend a well made open world or rpg, not to big, preferably made not by a large studio but with an interesting world to explore?
Maybe smething similar to Outward, which i liked for its quality of both gameplay and the world building, + the map that was not to big neither too small.

P.s. the game doesn't have to be super polished, just playable enough to be fun.

Edit: Double A, Not Triple A like skyrim, the witcher and such (i have already played most of them)

Of Orcs and Men. No open world, just linear story levels with some minor exploration in them. It's a damn fun RPG with an interesting story and world. It's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of budget RPGs that managed to keep me entertained.

Kingdoms of Amalur:The Reckoning.

Not the remaster, either. Only worth it if you want the DLC coming out next year, but otherwise full of newly-introduced bugs.
Baldur's Gate 1 (and 2) is an Isometric perspective RPG with a really interesting and quite extensive world to it, please, do check it out.

He does not seem to want cRPG´s tbh, atleast that is not how I read his thread. If he wanted, he should instead play PS:T !

I see, well. I'm just throwing it out there (*cRPG's = also RPG's), for someone to catch it if the OP doesn't like it. It is a public forum after all.

Hey, what's PS:T btw?

You link BG games but does not know what PS:T is ???..... :goalastonished:

PS:T is a piece of art

And obviously the best cRPG in the DnD setting! (obviously in the Planescape setting)

As much as I like BG series!! and I really do (also look forward to BG3) I still think PS:T is superior in every aspect

If you like zombie games. Its completely open-world and has a huge emphasis on exploring for the sake of scavenging. It's very community management oriented though where you play as a group of survivors. Anyone can die and when they die it's permanent. Outside of story-mode all the survivors are randomly generated too with their own traits and sometimes hidden backstories. Likewise, some survivors are more useful than others (i.e. a doctor being more valuable than an alcoholic). But you'll always have a different playthrough in breakdown mode, which is basically free-play.

I like that game, but it is a bit short. I did the story campaign in under nine hours in YOSE. First time was about twenty hours, because I was messing about more in the OG vanilla SOD and it had less features. You couldn't load cars up and farmer joe crap weapons would drop all the time.

Unless you doing the breakdown loop, but its kind of dull without a story mode. I didn't really get into the army campaign.

Check out Piranha Bytes. They have Gothic 1-3, Risen 1-3, and Elex. All incredible and some of the best video games ever made.

Oh yes. Sorry I am bad with abbreviations, simple as that as I don't pay attention to them to be honest thinking the person in question could have typed out a whole word or two, it's not that hard but I hear you.

I think Planescape Torment is a good game, and it might be in some ways to some people superior than say something like a Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale but the truth of the matter is that in that game, and I haven't finished it by a far shot, I think the subject matter is rather philosophical and in this sense it's much more about ideas and concepts that the game presents and represents though its exposition, which has to do with Life and Death, meanings and afterlife (or in between) but to be honest to me personally it contained much too little action so I kind of got bored by it all be it slightly, I am and stay curious and open minded towards that game but in light of others, like Baldur's Gate series and aforementioned Icewind Dale, I have simply chosen them over Planescape Torment.

I think it's a good game though and in that context there were others released not too long ago by the name of Tyranny and Torment: Tides of Numenera, so I think there's plenty of content here to please all of different people that have different tastes and preferences; some like to read, others not so much.

Personally I'm in between and preferably like a good balance between the two styles of gameplay. (reading/action)

For instance I was so ecstatic when Siege of Dragonspear was released for Baldur's Gate that I basically revisited these games and now am sort of neck deep in them again, which is kind of cool and appreciated.

One day I will get around playing Planescape Torment, Tyranny and Torment, Tides of Numenera but until that time I sort of thank you for reminding me of them and I think that it's cool that you like them, as generally there are people that clearly prefer those types of games over shall we say 'mindless' action, but to be honest: to each one their own.

I am just glad there are choices, and that not everything has to be one sided, like linear or spoon fed as it were.

Fair enough

I have played them all.. Dragonsiege was disappointing tbh. T:TON is under appreciated for what it is. (you can read my review of it, if you want to know more) Tyranny is great as well, but not as good as the others tbh.

I have never known a person whom played BG series or IWD for that sake, that never played PS:T... like.. I almost want to encurage you to play it right now... it will change your life.

I still get tears in my eyes when I listen to

But well.. If the OP wanted to play something else than just Open World ARPG´s our suggestions here would be really good! Infact I think the OP might come to love them, if he tried them

Yeah it is somewhat grindy too. But for whatever reason, I can't bring myself away from the game. I think it's because at the higher levels of Breakdown, at any moment, things can just fall apart. So it keeps you on your toes. Have to start being much more strategic compared to the story mode.

Well made, not too big - yes
Not made by a large studio - yes
Interesting world to explore - yes, also a lot of interesting side quests and characters.

If you like to take your time and get into the story and lore then I highly recommend Divinity 2.
