Here's another thing to consider. Hardware is now so poweful and can do so much, it doesn't need replaced within a year anymore. Now it's cutting edge for at least 5 years.
Game engines are so advanced and can do so much now explain to why need a new gaming engine to render the games we have now?
Pricing should reflect lifespan AND it now takes years to develop games and the engines they use to make games are not new. They're busy working on new engines for years maybe even a decade while you're playing the games they made years ago.
It's not like it was 10-15 years ago. designing engines for hardware, coming up with hacks and work arounds just to make something with the limited resources.
These companies that began making graphics cards back in the late 90's as well as coming up with specs for new CPUs have been engineering this stuff to do everything the game engines will demand.
NOW hardware is designed for next generation engines and software. NOW the hardware and software is designed to last for years. 5 minimum. And by then it's running things at high frames with lower set details that don't look that downgraded compared to high.
When someone buys a business or invests into it they're looking to milk it for all it's worth then discard it.
I never cared for Parasite Eve, but even though Parasite Eve 2 was a bit odd for what it was it was still a very good game.
I never cared for any of their other games. Final Fantasy wasn't my thing, it didn't turn me on.
I agree that it would slightly reduce PS5 sales, but I don’t think it would have that big of an impact on console sales. The PS5 will still sell really well, even if all PS5 games release on PC same day.
I completely forgot about Motorstorm. I loved that game on the PS3.
I think Sony is seeing how well Xbox games are doing on PC, so hopefully they will take note and release good ports going forward.
Killzone games
MGS games
Tekken 1,2,3, Tag
Silent Hill 1,2,3,4,
The first 3 Resident Evil games with HD textures ( the remakes suck, so I will pass )
