for the karate guy, i watched a youtube video, the kid is indeed karate champion, they show his trophy and even do interview with him.
the guy say he just attacked from behind by many people, he assume it was 10 people, he try to defend himself , but got unnumbered. In the clip he say he can't win because they bring weapon, but at least he can bring down 1-2 people but decided not to do it, i think he try to be civil telling them to stop but they then brutally beaten him to the point he can't counter it.
Btw there are rule when you learn martial arts in japan, never use violence/bully people if you know martial arts especially if you are a black belt in karate, if they found out of it, there is high chance they will punish you, banning you from entering competition, expelled from school, all your trophy will be revoked or such.
The karate champion try to defend himself as much as he can, he know if beat them up, he will be on losing scenario where he will be the one who get punished, no matter how absurd the situation is, that's the japanese way of thinking that make me think it is so unfair to be honest.
Of course different country have different culture, trust me if you join martial arts club like judo, karate in japan, and such, they have this strict code to never ever use it on normal civilian to do crime or such and only for self defense. If you use self defense but beat the guy till he got injured, like bleeding nose, swollen face, no matter what the excuse is, you will be the one at fault. Yes it is stupid but that's really the rule.
Nevada-tan and the “Otaku killers” come to mind.
Otherwise, it’s hard to say. Princess Ayako went to an elite school only for the powerful and she wound up being bullied so bad by rich industrialists’ kids that she had to quit for a year or so.
I’m not sure if that is an indication of the denigrated position of the Emperor in popular perception or a societal slide towards decadent self-indulgence headed up by the rich and powerful. As has happened many times in the past.
I don’t know any statistics off hand, and I’ve never been to school outside the US, so I don’t know how it compares globally.
Stories about what the US does with children could make your stomach churn, but these are considered anomalous and not worth hearing about.
