What are some good, relaxing games for depression?
Topic. Been feeling low for a while so it would be nice to find a good game that helps with relaxing. Doesn’t have to involve an epic story or anything, just relaxing and stress free.

I’d prefer a game with cats.

Proper meditation is about clearing the active mind.

There are different forms of meditation. There are underlying reasons for how he feels, and playing a game just covers them up. He may as well take medication, which also doesn't address the root, but does lead to feeling better quickly. Playing a game is a form of running away, of numbing yourself out. Depending on when you ask me, I will either say that is a good thing (relief at any cost) or a bad thing (the issues will keep coming back). Today, it's the latter. The book I'd recommend is "Mindfulness in Plain English". It's very accessible.

When I was much younger and stupid, I used to drink and smoke a lot as a way to escape. Today? Not so much because for I’ve been fighting against addiction (gave up drinking, working on giving up smoking) since it doesn’t help in the long term, so I’ve been trying to find positive hobbies that helps with depression aside from just psychology. Meditation is not one of them because it doesn’t work for me personally, and it only works on different people.

Personally, I play light hearted games, read happy fiction books, and do some art, spend time with animals as a way of coping with low mood. How I cope with it depends on what I feel like doing.

What happy fiction books are your favorites? I tried, for a while, to read more funny novels, but I found it pretty hard to find good comedy fiction and eventually reverted back to thrillers and such. "Lamb" and "Omen" were some of my favorites.
Crusader Kings II.

Ulysses by James Joyce. It was the one that had me smiling most of the time.
in all honesty when i want to play a game that calms me i play for honor its nothing better then stabbing your enemys putting them in a firey blaze and off cliffs its easy getting rid of stress when your sucking the joy out of others whatever game i can go ham on people for fun its the only game i use my mic in since taunting is half the game i let out a few evil laughs once in a while the pure torture of another is like a emotional +1 for me
The Witness: Very relaxing atmosphere with some interesting puzzles (don't let their simple appearance fool you). The game is pretty pretencious and doesn't give you any guidance, so if you don't like that kind of thing then avoid this one. Otherwise I think this is a great puzzle game.

Subnautica: The atmosphere of this game is relaxing for the most part. While there are a few creepy and intense moments, they are few and far between and are mostly present towards end game. If the early access label is a turn off then just wait a month since it's suppossed to come out in January.

Space Engine (not on Steam but is free): While it isn't really a game, It is an incredable universe simulator that is just fun to explore.
