Luckily, I don't know what an actual gun feels like, though.
While I love Halo Reach the most, the gunplay is not the best.
Modern gun physics do not apply.
If this doesn't float your boat I suggest Shadow Warrior 2. It has both gun and sword play. Very entertaining game.
There aren't really any truly realistic shooting games. The ones that claim "realism" are usually as arcade as anything else, they just have massively exaggerated recoil and ludicrous bullet drop.
Take Sniper Elite for example. SMGs recoil like a Ma Deuce on full auto. Rifle rounds literally fall out of the sky after 150 metres, and blow several metres off target at 100 with the slightest crosswind. And a bullet through the chest only kills if it actually strikes the heart directly. Grazing it, hitting the aorta or ripping through any of a dozen major arteries does virtually no damage at all.
