Games with satisfying gunplay
What game do you think has the most satisfying gunfighting? I've been looking for a game where guns feel like actual guns, rather than airsoft guns.

Insurgency comes close but the guns don't really have as much oomph as I want them to

Borderlands, Warframe.

Luckily, I don't know what an actual gun feels like, though.

Doom and Wolfenstein reboots, Battlefield/Arma. Borderlands also counts, but the series rarely follows conventional firearm rules.

Halo 3.

While I love Halo Reach the most, the gunplay is not the best.

It takes place in the far future. (Circa 5252)
Modern gun physics do not apply.

Farcry 4. It has stealth options and kill-the-all options. It has an active environment that can kill you or the enemies. Things like line of sight, and sound all play a factor.

If this doesn't float your boat I suggest Shadow Warrior 2. It has both gun and sword play. Very entertaining game.

FEAR, Bioshock, and Payday 2 have some of my favorite fire fights.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game would be my pick, but it's no longer available on Steam.

I say Borderlands, though they are not real life guns.

For realism, I'd recommend ARMA III. There are no truly realistic shooting games, but ARMA gets closer than most. It's got some clever tricks, too, like starting your bullet's flightpath from the chamber of the weapon you fired.

There aren't really any truly realistic shooting games. The ones that claim "realism" are usually as arcade as anything else, they just have massively exaggerated recoil and ludicrous bullet drop.

Take Sniper Elite for example. SMGs recoil like a Ma Deuce on full auto. Rifle rounds literally fall out of the sky after 150 metres, and blow several metres off target at 100 with the slightest crosswind. And a bullet through the chest only kills if it actually strikes the heart directly. Grazing it, hitting the aorta or ripping through any of a dozen major arteries does virtually no damage at all.

Imo, I liked the Battlefield 4 gunplay. It feels so satisfying killing enemies with guns like M416 and MPX and the guns sound really good although I have to admit that I have no experience with real guns.
