2. Don't worry about model numbers unless you want to play PS2 games from disk on the PS3.
CECHBxx and CECHAxx you want for playing PS2 games since they have a actual PS2 CPU onboard, but these are the earliest models of the PS3 which were only made all the way back in 2006. CECHCxx and CECHExx are also capable of playing PS2 games from the disk via software emulation. All the other models can only play PS2 games bought from the PS Store.
All those consoles running older versions of the firmware have simply never been patched, some people want those consoles so they can jailbreak them and run their own and/or pirated software on it.
3. Online is free, you don't need PS+ like with the PS4.
4. All models of the PS3 use a normal 2,5" SATA HDD. As far as I am aware they are easily removeable on all models of the PS3, the HDD bay should be accessable from either the side or from the back of the console. Check for video's online on your model on how to remove the drive.
If you want to you can replace it with a new HDD or SSD. Any 2,5" SATA drive will work. If you go SSD a 250gb one will be more then enough.
5. Disc versions of the game can not be fully installed on the HDD, Some games don't even need to be installed at all to be played. A way around this would be buying games from the PS Store.
6. Only if the game is available for both the Vita and PS3, and you bought it in a Vita+PS3 pack on the PS Store which I think doesn't cost any extra.
7. I am not aware of any serious issues with the PS3.
Pro tip: If you are planning on using this console for a long time buy some new controllers now, new PS3 contollers are starting to become hard to find.
Fat has a flaw for cooling, you have to open the whole bloody thing up, clean the crap out of it if you want it to last long time, I had to realign the chips two times for it, which I got fed up with, which why I went to pick up the super slim, the hot air can easily get trap in the fat PS3.
If the PS3 ever died, at least you get the disk out easily with the super slim.
2. Do not, and I repeat do not get a custom firmware PS3, if you value your PSN account, if not then you have nothing to lose, just don't link your PSN account to it what so ever, as Sony will lock the whole account, which you lose access to everything on that account, the games you bought, movie, etc for digital. Make sure it's using the official firmware, doesn't have to be up to date, just as long it wasn't jailbreak with custom firmware, and wasn't register to be black listed by Sony, which you can call, or email Sony and they can tell you if it's block, or not.
3. Yes, and thank god.
4. Yes they all use 2.5" drives, and all models can be upgraded for storage easily, also you won't benefit with SSD just so you know, due to the slow port they're using. Only PS4 benefit with SSD, but not by much.
5. I don't think the disk reader will be a problem as I had my PS3 since 2007, so that should explain more than enough, and yes I already pounded over thousand of hours into my PS3.
6. Only some games allow to play PS3 to PSP Vita stream, you will have to look that up, it has been proven when someone jailbreak the systems it ran just fine streaming it to your PSP vita, but we don't know why they put those restrictions for it anyways.
7. For design for consoles yes they're all crappy, as you need to clean the dust pretty offend to maintain the system for much longer lifespan, that why get the super slim because there's less crap in the way to blowing the dust out of it, and provides better cooling because there less things that can trap the heat, helping to dissipate the heat better, than the slim, and fat PS3.
I would recommend the Slim. The superslim looks cheap and nasty.
I wouldn't trust the build quality.
i can see alot of games im after currently on sale or really cheap.
am i not able to buy persona 4 golden and play it on my ps3??
so far im looking at these games
tales of xillia 1/2
tales of vesperia
metal gear solid 4
persona 5 (is the dlc worth it or not? any difference between ps3/4 versions?)
heavy rain (this is disk only? so why show it on store if i cant buy)
can anyone reccommend any good ps3 games i might enjoy
Heavy rain not sure what's going on with that, but I know they upload game trailers, and such, but you have to get it on disk only.
Maybe you might like disgara series, mass effect 2 and 3, Dynasty Warriors Gundam, zone of the Ender's collection, jak and dexter collection, ninja gaiden, and Katamari forever.
im looking for great console only stuff like tekken tag 2 ect
Takken series good to get.
-Ratchet & Clank games
-Uncharted games
-inFAMOUS games
-WipEout games
-LittleBigPlanet games
And The Last of Us as well.
i see heavy rain but it says i have to buy a real copy
i dont see dragons crown.....if i buy a disk copy can i install it to the hdd completely?
I deffo cant play persona 4 golden on the ps3 then? with JUST the ps3 itself
For some games you're going to have to install the game to the PS3 HDD, and still need the disk. Which mostly they just done this way for optimization reading data from the HDD, than the Disk, but idk why they didn't bother putting it on the PS3 store.
This will answer your last question.

Sony might not want a certain title in their store, or a dev was not willing to pay the fees Sony demands for the privilage or having a game on their store (if any). Or the devs decided they can earn more money when selling only retail discs.
A game from the disc either installs (partially or completely) or it does not, you have no say in this. A disc is alway required to play games bought on disc.
The emulated PS2 version of Persona 4 is on the PS Store:

im wanting to play persona 4 GOLDEN as it had a ton of stuff added to it and persona 4 is one of my fav games of all time....i really wana play golden but i cant justify buying a pstv for 60 then 12 for the game and then finding that most other games i want MIGHT not work with the device as sony dropped support for it
