Has cheating soiled your opinion of competitive gaming?
I've had to quit many online PC games due to rampant, blatant, and overt cheating. I won't play CS:GO, PUBG, Apex, Warzone because of it. GTA V I can't even find a lobby where you can go 5 minutes without ships falling from the sky or the sky itself flickering different colors because of it. Even Fall Guys have people obviously cheating when they fly in the air and run 5x faster than anyone else. It's gotten to a point that virtually every single game with a competitive mode, suffers from it.

It has actually had me considering skipping out on buying a new GPU later this year, and buying a console instead as it is less prevalent in a closed system.

Has cheating effected how and which games you play?

And what do you think are some things games could do to solve or at least reduce this problem?

Yeah, I can agree with others are saying about the players themselves. A lot of competitive multiplayer games are toxic as hell. I think out of that toxicity, and obsession with winning so you'll have something in your life to brag about also influences a lot of people towards cheats and hacks as well. So the cheating is just a symptom of a bigger problem with the community that are attracted to these games. If that makes any sense.

yes it defeats the purpose of pvp

pvp ALWAYS goes down as soon as everybody starts to cheat / hack

the p2w item thing is just the same. It doesnt really make sense but let me tell you: pvp and skilled pvp...so actual pvp is done by VERY few people

most people have no skill and also dont want to try hard

so there is always some meat for the cheater kiddie until the meat gets the same cheat... its a pyramid thing... at a certain point the publisher will update some stuff and try to play people. After a couple of years the game has created enough profit and will be side managed

our gaming industry -.-

I wonder how much cheating their is in Rocket League. I recently started playing that with a few other guys and we're good enough to silver ranked teams so far. Very fun game but I always wonder when, not if, I will run into some.
Competitive games or games with competitive communities were always more likely for a bad time; don't know if its the Ego or idea of a chance at money, but it just makes the experience more sucktastic. It gives incentive for people to cheat and for people to complain about cheaters.

tryharding

Most fitting way to describe why competitive sucks and how they leak to fun/casual play sessions.

yeah competitive gaming was never the same after my white cheated on me
Cheating hasn't soiled my opinion of mating and matchmaking even, so how would it soil my opinion of something so trivial as gaming and playing?
what if i have soiled myself due to super excitement?
Tip: don't play FPS

Expect an increased ammount of cheating and griefing in the future now the game has turned F2P and there's no monetary barrier of entry for cheaters to join the game.
Cheating hasn't ruined multiplayer for me, metagaming has. I'd rather play against the guy with an aimbot than the guy who copied someone else's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ homework to come up with his 1337 strats.

I never had a tremendously positive opinion on competitive PvP games to begin with...

Guess it's time for you to enter a modded multiplayer server like FiveM.

That's what I was thinking. F2P stuff always gets it worse because there's literally nothing to lose. So I am wondering what could fix the issue. Say for example a game on Steam splits the servers so people who have more than a certain amount of money invested into their library goes into one server, and brand new accounts go into another. Something that puts an actual risk involve as a deterrent is surely better than nothing at all.

Premium servers aren't new. It doesn't solve because If there is one, it will be on a version who cost nothing to play.
Yeah, People cheating ruined multiplayer for me.

I still play Team fortress 2 but only a little bit.

The best multiplayer was back when i used to go to LAN's and since then it's never been the same.
