Because controllers are often more intuitive to people who are accustomed to using them. All input methods have pros and cons. If someone uses a console a lot, it's inevitable they will be more inclined towards a controller for certain games on PC. I only avoid a controller with FPS and multiplayer games on PC.

Depends on the game. For MGS V for example, is much better with a controller than a keyboard.

both are equally fine and also racing games feel much better on controllers

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and it's an Xbox Controller. (The parkour is good on keyboard, but needs practice on a controller)

Never played Assassins Creed on PC, used to on PS3 though. I simply held the "High profile" button + Sprint. Then pushed in the direction I vaguely wanted to run in and the game did the rest.

If you're having trouble moving the sticks and pressing buttons and triggers at the same time, I recommend using the "claw grip". That way you should find it a lot easier when you get used to it
