Is MacroGamer safe?
I need to remap one of my mouse buttons to one of my keys and I don't know which macro key software to trust. Does anyone know if MacroGamer is safe?

Yeah, if it's a virus I'm pretty sure I'll know after my computer starts performing slower, it cant operate properly and I get a ♥♥♥♥ ton of ads. Anyone else got anything?

What kind of mouse are you using? Your manufacturer should have their own macro software that'll beat any of the unreliable and potentially unsafe third-party garbage.

I'm currently using the Predator Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and the Predator Gaming Mouse. I've already installed the Predator software which is meant to have a macro option on it but that only comes up for other keyboards for some reason. Any time I got the software (Predator Sense) all it shows is CPU info, fan speed, overclock options, etc.

Presumably that's an Acer Predator?

Well the mouse is a badge-engineered Steelseries with some extra RGB. You might actually try using Steelseries software with it, it might just be crazy enough to work.

Macros / scripts do not result in a VAC ban.

Such is usually an excuse spewed by those to cover up other actions.

Once the software does not interfere with your game files - you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Everything else is irrelevant to VAC.

That isn't strictly true. There are some kinds of macros that will get you into a lot of trouble, they're just not the kind you'll run off a $30 badge-engineered mouse with hammy LED lighting.

Take my mouse for example. It's a Swiftpoint Z, meaning it has a very complex Macro system and can memorize entire lines of code. I could theoretically Macro entire Fighting Game combos and, with a little tinkering, execute them flawlessly with a single button press. That's frowned upon and could get me in serious trouble. Not with VAC, but with the moderators of... virtually any fighting game.

In the case of Macros / scripts - it would be considered as external assistance.

Once it modifies game's core executable files and dynamic link libraries - that will indefinitely result in a VAC ban.

In CS:GO; the Overwatch system would have to see the action being carried out within the game and done so with evidence that shows this; as evident beyond a reasonable doubt.

I've used buy scripts and other custom configurations within other VAC secured games; again; it will not result in a VAC ban - that is clear but some would rather play it safe than risk it all.

External anti-cheat systems may have a different functionality; yes.

Not that I would ever do that, mind you. But the potential is there, that's why MLG(may God have mercy upon their souls) have banned certain controllers from their competition. My Razer Wolverine actually lists "Banned by the MLG" as a selling point on Razer's product page.

In major E-sports, the consensus that organizers have reached is that - they'll provide the hardware and software for the players.

They don't need to bring their individual PC's at the event(s) - that is a system that should've always been implemented.

Adjustments that are player preferences such as in-game sensitivity and other controls can be changed using CVARS (console variables).

CVARS would be pointless if you add your config.cfg and override the pre-existing one and execute it in game.

Trying it right now, hoping it'll work. Thanks.

I dont mean it that way, what i want to do is bind my num lock or something else on my numpad to my in game mic and then bind that key to one of my mouse thumb buttons. Not looking to cheat or anything, by is it safe, i mean is it a virus.

Another option? Directly bind the Push to Talk onto the Thumb Button. Thumb Buttons do count as keystrokes, so most apps and games will allow you to bind directly. Discord even lets you bind controller buttons as keystrokes.

I'm only hesitant with Macrogamer and similar because "Third Party" apps are often unreliable. To put it mildly. I ran a third-party app with my audio last year and it was a fiasco.

That's the thing though. I'm trying out Fortnite to see what the hype is all about, and ive bound the thumb button to the in game mic but everytime i die i cant use it but when im alive it works fine.

Also the steel series doesn't work.
