A story of a failed attempt of a "free profit" that destoyed my whole Steam inventory.
THIS IS NOT A RANT.
Just a story I want to share so you guys and girls doesn't fall for it.

I saw an ad where you can sell your unwanted skins for instant cash.(Which I wouldn't tell) and not only that, was a regular user of a famous trading bot website(which I wouldn't tell aswell). One day, I saw that the trading website I used have an option to increase your balance by using online banking (such as PayPal,Visa,Bitcoin etc.) and get a bonus of 40%-60%(depending on how you want to add the balance) and I decided to do an attempt for a free profit by doing the following:

  1. Go to the website where they buy your skins for cash
  2. Take most of the stuff that can have a total value of 10USD or so (since it's the minimal amount for the trade website to accept my transaction)
  3. Insert it to my PayPal account
  4. Go to the trading website and proceed to add balance (In my case it's 10USD + 40% Bonus = 14USD)
  5. Withdraw the same skins that I use to get the balance and use the bonus balance to add some other stuff.

But. this is where I messed up,

  1. I proceed to take 10USD worth of items on the skins to cash website and keep a screenshot of it just as a reference of what items I need to take back which in this case the (10USD I used to turn it as PayPal balance).
  2. When I'm back to the trading website, I realised that the 14 USD was not enough to cover almost everything that I gave for the cash. And when I compare back the prices from the trading website (which is 100% from Steam and no other fees) and compare it to the screenshot I took, I realised that most of the items doesn't even reach 50% of what it's worth (Example : 10USD on Steam but they give you around 4-5USD for it) and I was shocked. I was trying to refund back the skins but since I already used the money, I think there's no turning back.
  3. The problem comes when I didn't compare the skins to cash website with Steam official prices. I look up the skins to cash website FAQ and look for something related to their service fees and there's a thing they said about CS:GO items have 10% Steam fee (which doesn't affect DoTA 2 items I suppose). And that's the problem right now, they didn't specify the fees for DoTA 2 items at the FAQ nor the T&C. I was quite mad but at the same time felt stupid for my own mistake.

Currently I lost around 15USD (Which is like 50% of my DoTA 2 Inventory),I'll try to recover it sooner or later but this thread is made for you guys to tell you guys to ALWAYS CHECK THE PRICES if you are attempting to do something similar. I don't make this thread for you guys to fell sympathy for me so you guys will help me through donation or so. NO, THAT'S NOT ME. I just make this thread just as a reminder. Sorry for my horrible English, not used to writing something this long. You may ask anything in the comments section just incase it doesn't make you understand what I'm dealing right now.

Moderator, if you think this subforum is not suitable for my content. Please do tell me by messaging or leaving a commend stating where I should put this thread (whether it should stay in Steam forum or I should put this somewhere else

Well, I didn't specify the website I'm using so maybe I'm off the hook. :P
(well, maybe not so sure about that)
Unless it was the Steam Market, no you’re not.

I think CJ don't need a job after End of The Line since he can just go to his property and take the money from there.Even if he don't, he can just go gambling at Las Venturas

Good to know. Sorry, I don't quite understand some of the the Steam trading, marketplace etc. rules
Rule 1: only trade with people you trust
Rule 2: use steam to do it
