Is there a pointless school subject?
I've been wondering this. I am homeschooled so I will ask those who went to school; Is there a subject that's pointless, you'll never use and is just boring?

There is no pointless subject in school .
There is of course the goal to prepare you for jobs , but more than to prepare you for job, school is here to give you the tools for being a citizen who can think by themself.
you may think that philosophy, history must be pointless but with the vote paper the destiny of the country is in your hand. And for this you need to learn by yourself and to know where you come from and what led your country to be what it is .
Even art have it importance, you are not just a robot prepared to get a job but a future voting citizen , and more than this an human we need to give all the tools .
The problem is not what is teached but how it is teached.
You see how a government care to have citizens in what it put in education for all. Rich people will have always be able to be educated , but if your goverment cut in taxes and let it to private system , you are not his priority

Well, you can always say that history is a useless subject, but it depends on whether it's useless to you, for a lot of people Algebra is useless, but that could all change depending on the situation.

The thing is, how often does history have a practical application in your life?
Do you have any interest in current events? It helps to see how things got to be the way that they got to be that way.
Drama. The kids can't even act properly!

But thats largely pointless if you don't have the power to change them.

i'd say history can give you insights into daily life, and also it's good to see how far humanity has come.

Well for the average person, algebra becomes useless upon graduation.
Not really? You use it every day even if you're not gaming. Such as quickly factoring in costs of groceries when at the store.

You have the power to change things before they happen by choosing your leader, giving him a warning at midterms elections or being part of movements. It is called being a citizen and for this you need education

i just use basic math to add costs together, don't need fancy equations

which is still algebra, when you have a total amount you can spend, and factoring the price of X items with Y prices, to reach said goal.

But that involves taking an interest in what is going on and being engaged with reality.
