with that said am i allowed to just give away some steam keys?
within steam just on the discussion, whoever gets them first?
no links or anything stupid like that, just a list of keys and of course the game Names.

or does that fall under one of the rules?

aswell, where would this be go in the forums? off topic or ?

iv got a few keys i don't want and am looking to give them away
but im not tryna catch a ban or something dumb like that over it in case it's not allowed.

I seen people do giveaway on game forums just as on normal forums such as OT without any issues.

If you however do a raffle, as in "Oh to join a giveaway you must give something first" then yeah, that is a no-no.

Be also sure to not send codes fully or bots will usually grab them. Send entire code, change one letter/number to x, make a small riddle like x=2+7 and you are good.

you cant.
that key is bound to your account, the other end still needs to buy it or be gifted the game.

if you would be able to share a keys on two accounds you would be effectivly bypassing the steam shop. And i cant see lord Gaben liking those communist tricks.

I do understand,
the game is still yours. its in your library and you could play it ad any time. Given a key away does nothing to that.
And steam has no option to let you wrap up unplayed games as a gift, because they rather have you buy it again as a proper gift and send that.

But there is a support form for steam. just ask the officials there is no harm in asking.

no you clearly do not understand?

lol i have game keys for steam that are not used.
it's not tied to my account...
they are not from others?

why do you seem to think im trying to give away my own personal keys?
have you never bought a game that gives you a free code ?
it's for anyone you choose .....

all i want to know is if it's against the rules to post the codes here on the forums.

awswell i have contacted steam support about it a few hours ago
still awaiting a response, but i posted here to hopefully get a mod to confirm it's fine

i assume it's fine but again i don't want a ban for trying to give some codes i dont want,

No, man. You don't. He wants to give away keys that have not been redeemed. Extras from wherever he bought them, like Humble or Fanatical or wherever. He's not trying to give away anything in his library.

As to OP's question, sometimes the mods will allow a giveaway thread here, but more often they suggest you hop to one of the groups that regularly holds giveaways or give them to your friends.

if you want to give away keys op, you can do so. just make sure the last block of code is broken up into an easy to solve puzzle for users so bots can't just steal the codes before anyone has a chance at it.

Just clarifying: If you plan to just give the codes away freely, it won't be an issue, but if you plan on doing a prize draw or hide the keys behind some other type of action? then it would be against those rules.
