Real Names vs Usernames
I used to always have really unique and original usernames that I would use for steam and gaming. But for this account I just used my real name. Which do you guys think is better for gaming, a username or your real name?

Pros of Using Your Real Name:
- You seem friendlier and more personable
- You seem realer in a world of people hiding behind usernames
- Your name might stand out more in games since you have a short simple name and others have long usernames

Pros of Usernames:
- Easier to search for on steam/google
- No other people with the same name
- Could have humor in your username

Also ever since using my real name I've noticed that people in games like CSGO never vote to kick me, or be toxic to me at all anymore. I think its because I just seem like an average guy with a normal name, and I don't have a username that stands out and draws a lot of attention to me any more.

I bet all of the replies will be username people but still I'm interested in which one you use and why

Username. Except if you search Kurumi Tokisaki you'll find 10000 people on Steam. just know I'm the real one because I have the profile URL of KurumiTokisaki.

I don't like to be called by my real name since it's personal. Sure I'll include it in my bio, but I rather be called by my username. Which is much more badass and more acceptable.

I sometimes use my unique and original username for when I can't use my own name in-game. I think you should use what you feel comfortable with.

You can have it legally changed if you want to. The whole process takes time, money and paperwork to fill out, but it's a thing.

I prefer my admittedly not unique username.

I can't tell people that my real name is Inigo Montoya, because then they get this sudden fear that I'm about to kill them with a sword.

I like my username better.

Almost as weird as having a selfie as a profile picture.

Weird because it seems too informal around random, online folk? Just curious. :pug:

aliases.

Never associate your name on random ass platforms like steam youtube forums etc.

Too personal, I guess.

Especially with all the creeps that frequent Steam. Nothing good can come of it.

Makes sense. I would argue if you're a women it's much more riskier with the creeps around. Creeps don't bother me none - ain't no one interested in a mule.

I've used both before.

I usually just use names themed around my nickname Bun.

using your real name ever is a terrible idea

I enjoy upsetting people so I rarely use my real name.
