No. Because it isn't one.

Antisocial behaviour. Being that you have set out to deliberately hurt someone.

Not any more than plain lying

We all have deliberately hurt other people. Anyone denying that needs to do some serious self-reflection.

Just because there are enough people who are actually too naive and gullible? These people should be in therapy to learn how to cope with life.

At most, the mentality that leads one, not merely to engage in this, but to take some pleasure or satisfaction from doing so, is likely a result of some symptom of a deeper disorder - but performing the activity itself is not a disorder.

I have to eat. I tried mushrooms one time and I began hallucinating. I tried stealing a carrot from my neighbor's vegetable garden and the police came. I dropped the carrot and ran. I tried catching a rabbit, but it went down into a hole. I tried catching a squirrel, but it ran up a tree. I tried catching a deer, but it was too fast for me. I tried catching a turkey vulture, but I had to let go of its foot when I was about ten feet off the ground. I tried catching a bear, but I turned around and ran back home. So now I go down to the river, stick my hand in a hole and pull out a catfish. BINGO. Now if I could just find a match so I can start a fire and cook this thing.

I heard it in Eminem's voice in my head

And give every one of those liars an excuse for what they do? not a chance. They are responsible for their own behaviour and should be held accountable to that effect.

Those that catfish like to take advantage of people and use them for their own gain, I am sure there is a psychological term for somebody that acts this way towards others. So I guess catfishing can branch from people having such a disorder where they feel the need to have power over peoples emotions.
Yea.
Absolutely cant stand them at all.

Theres one that came to OT recently and constantly does 'low key' flirty comments while using photos that arent them and it takes a lot for me not to say anything.

What annoys me most is how many people fall for it too. Most of them like to join 'Girl Gamer' group since its public to sell the lie and quite a bit go and make twitch channels and link them but never have any videos on record. This is why if someone cant produce a proof photo or make a video then odds are they are a catfisher.

I hate that girl gamer group and I do question how many actual girls have joined it. I visited it once and saw only thirsty guys and catfishes seeking attention.
