4k monitors

So i bought a second monitor and the hdmi slots are better than usual and are capable to deliver a 4k experience according to the q/a infos on amazon.I thought only display ports are capable to deliver a higher resolution so was i wrong?

HDMI 2.0 and up support 4K at 60hz, with later revisions supporting HDR and higher resolutions
All versions of DisplayPort should support 4K @ at least 60hz, I think, but only more recent standards support HDR (and bigger numbers)

Thats probably the reason didn’t know that there are new hdmi versions
