Metallica is probably the most overrated band on earth.
And before you accuse me of being a brainwashed brat from 2005, do know that I was born in '87 and I've heard most of their crap and not only the latest.

No I don't think you did. He's just saying that's your opinion.

It's was obvious that was it's opinion, hence 'Probably' in the title of the thread. So why mention it?

Megadeth is betterer than Metallica. And Crush 40 is bettererer than both.

I agree with this. I like them. I wouldn't say they're my favorite, but I definitely respect them and can acknowledge they're very talented and did a lot for the genre. People who say otherwise are deluding themselves.

Except Metallica came forth as a band before any of those. They were one of the first bands to explore their genre and were (in my opinion of course) the best (and most unique) at it with both the writing and sound. There's a reason they got so popular back then. While it does suck that they did seem to sell out at one point, they later returned to their initial sound.

Not only that, but Entombed was influenced by Slayer, who admit Metallica is on a "much larger level". Cannibal Corpse has flat out said they were partially influenced by Metallica. Just because they made some music that was terrible (for me personally), doesn't mean they weren't revolutionary.

Oy ♥♥♥♥ wit, let me school you in the ways of extreme metal sonny. Metallica didn't do ♥♥♥♥ for death metal, you should be praising the unholy ground that Venom walks on. They single handedly made Black Metal, Thrash Metal, and Death Metal. They were the first extreme metal band full stop plain and simple black and white, so don't go on telling people Metallica did much of anything for death metal when it was Venom who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ made Metallica and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ genre you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about especially since you are arguing firsts.

All I can say to that is: Sure bro. Sounds like you've done so much research. Thank you for showing me how little you can read about thrash metal and the roots of metal in general. I needed a good chuckle.

I realize Venom came first. Doesn't mean they got as popular for how they changed it. Editing further to add that I could just use Doom's argument, if it was a decent one. That's evolution. Doesn't mean they did nothing. They were still one of the top four thrash for the time. I stand by my point. Delusional.

So you're insulting my intelligence for an example I gave, yet you're contracting yourself by calling me delusional? Nice argument.

Maybe next time do a REAL proper research and learn how Metal was really evolved; or you can praise Thrash Metal all you like and still ignore that around the time Thrash Metal ruled, Death and Black Metal were actually evolving and not selling themselves out in the process. I guess I can call you a sellout fan, but what do I know. At least I know what I listen to that are sellout; or by using the antonym of 'Delusional': a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ realist. And don't confuse me with being an elitist either, because I listen to a wide range of Metal bands.

With that being said, judging by your logic I "don't" have a decent argument and am delusional and therefore isn't worth the time to speak with. Read about 'Irony', because sometimes it's a ♥♥♥♥♥.
I see you have never heard of the entire Screamo genre.

I do agree though, they're good but not THAT good.

Then there was that period of crap with St Anger and so on.

You ain't seen nothing here.

At a school I was in some edgelords got in a fistfight over which backwater inbred screamo/black metal is the best one.

Which composers do you think would have enjoyed metal? Bach? Mozart? I figure most all of them given the chance.

Mozart wouldn't have enjoyed much of any music considering he was deaf.

EDIT: ♥♥♥♥ that's Beethoven I'm dumb

Are you being sarcastic? I’m sorry if you’re not, it’s just a little hard to tell.
