I'd say that Coldplay, the Chainsmokers and Imagine Dragons are several times more overrated than Metallica.

There are countless bands much more overrated than Metallica but I've never been a big fan of Metallica either. I'd say they are quite overrated imo, but not even near to the most overrated band on earth

Personally, I don't like death metal, so I can't say I care about metal branching off in that direction. Evolution is essentially influence. Metallica still was more influential in general in that regard. So in your words, duh, I guess?

Yes, I mentioned Death Metal as an example. I thought that was pretty clear...

metallica is ok, but i dont personally enjoy their music.

it's a little bit like putting a sperm whale in a cage and letting people watch it imo, it hurts to listen to.
everyone likes what they like though, so i cant judge anyone.

metallica is for kids that want to die, slipknot is for kids that already died but kept the edge after death

I agree with this. I like them. I wouldn't say they're my favorite, but I definitely respect them and can acknowledge they're very talented and did a lot for the genre. People who say otherwise are deluding themselves.

Yeah... in the process of selling themselves out. Death Metal was revolutionized better by bands like Death, Cynic, Gorguts, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, At the Gates, Entombed, and others, that didn't look like a bunch of sellouts.

Except Metallica came forth as a band before any of those. They were one of the first bands to explore their genre and were (in my opinion of course) the best (and most unique) at it with both the writing and sound. There's a reason they got so popular back then. While it does suck that they did seem to sell out at one point, they later returned to their initial sound.

Not only that, but Entombed was influenced by Slayer, who admit Metallica is on a "much larger level". Cannibal Corpse has flat out said they were partially influenced by Metallica. Just because they made some music that was terrible (for me personally), doesn't mean they weren't revolutionary.

Oy ♥♥♥♥ wit, let me school you in the ways of extreme metal sonny. Metallica didn't do ♥♥♥♥ for death metal, you should be praising the unholy ground that Venom walks on. They single handedly made Black Metal, Thrash Metal, and Death Metal. They were the first extreme metal band full stop plain and simple black and white, so don't go on telling people Metallica did much of anything for death metal when it was Venom who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ made Metallica and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ genre you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about especially since you are arguing firsts.

Slipknot, like System of a Down, are among the worst bands in their genres. If people want some real Nu/Alternative Metal bands they should check Sevendust, Nothingface, Mudvayne, early Soulfly, Deftones, and Ill Niño.

You mean Nu metal as a genre, yes it is and always will be a black stain on metal as a whole.
