They actually perfectly transitioned with the generations and music evolution.
The big four (mentioned above) where the leaders of the thrash metal genre. Metallica however was one that kept up and changed accordingly to the next generation too. Hense the music change and haircuts.
Some diehards might not like 'change' as such, but overall it keeps the band alive, else it would of been long forgotten. Metallica still stayed true to the roots. If you understand basic music theory, you would understand and respect how hard that actually is.
That's evolution what you're counting. That's not my point. YES, DUH, SURE, OBVIOUSLY. OBVIOUSLY all the upcoming Death Metal innovators are literally influenced by Heavy and Thrash Metal bands for the most part; no one is denying or ignoring that. But they are still Death Metal bands that they themselves were incorporating from other genres and built great Death Metal subgenres and evolved Death Metal, with blueprints of style and innovation.
The point is, Death Metal bands, DESPITE their influences, revolutionized the genre better, and by example, and still didn't look like they're selling themselves out.
your thread is overrated you inbred hick

From what you said, you appeared to imply that they were not that influential. Which again, is delusional. The person you replied to did not mention death metal; that was you. Personally, I don't like death metal, so I can't say I care about metal branching off in that direction. Evolution is essentially influence. Metallica still was more influential in general in that regard. So in your words, duh, I guess?
