"Whoa" or "Woah"?

When something surprises you, do you prefer Whoa or Woah? I prefer Woah myself.

I've always typed it as "woah" since a kid, but I understand that is a misspelling of the word and it's actually "whoa", yet that just still looks wrong and older (such as whoa you would use as just a sound to slow/stop a horse).

Pretty sure whoa is the only official, correct spelling. At least, that's what my teacher said when I was 8 and used "woah" in a story I wrote.

I just use voice dictation to type words I don’t know how to spell. So according to my phone, it’s: whoa

I’m gonna have to contradict myself here and say that the right way of saying it is “woah.” There is no way it’s spelled “whoah”
