Uplay can delete your account for inactivity?
Apparently according to their terms of service, Ubisoft might decide to nullify your account for any reason they want, including not logging onto Uplay for six months. And you don't get any refunds.

There was a rep from the company on the forums somewhere and they basically acknowledged it was real.

So if I buy a Ubisoft game on Steam than it's safe or can they still wipe it out of existence? Because I'm sure as hell not buying directly from them.

good question, think it will stay on your steam profile but of course not sure how that will work out if it needs Uplay to run

Kind of what steam needs the way i see it, well any social/gaming platform. The amount people i know who got a steam account with stuff on and they no longer playing for a good 4 or more years
I heard the same thing about origin yet my account over there been inactive for a year at some point without getting erased.

I think they might wait longer for accounts that has a lot's of games.

But this is pretty stupid to erase someone account over only 6 months.

This has to be a joke
Seeing the new Terms of Service make me think that Steam more likely kick Ubisoft out instead of Ubisoft ditch Steam.

So I'm the only one who is creeped out that they are deleting accounts of paying customers?
Hi

Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Customer Support.

To accept the new ToU you can simply just log into the Uplay PC client, or sign into account.ubisoft.com.

I took a moment to look into what you had heard regarding account closure. It looks like whoever had informed you of this is mistaken. It is true that a deadline of August 12th, 2020 is provided to accept the Terms of Use, though at this deadline no accounts are deleted. Your account would simply not be available to use until the new ToU are accepted. This can be done at any time after the deadline. The date of August 12th is simply the date which the new Terms of Use go into effect. It doesn't say that we will close it. However it does say if you do not wish to accept it that you can close it. No account will be closed until done so at your request.

If you have trouble accepting the new ToU on our account site, please let us know.

With regards,
Aaron M.
Ubisoft Support
It would be nice if they send me an email after they delete it so at least I can have confirmation that I had an uplay account

Yes, but what happens when I don't agree the newly proposed terms? Surely they must abide by the terms we agreed. We have a contract, they can't just change it and and then withhold my purchases for not agreeing with the changes, right?

It clearly states in my post that you won't have access to you account till you accept their ToU. It will NOT be deleted just you can't use it till you accept the terms.

Yes I don't want access to my account. They can throw it in the trash. I just want to be able to play the games.
Like steam your games are tied to the account no account no games.

This is all I could find and it's intentionally vague.

8.2 Termination of the Account or access to Service(s) at our initiative. We may suspend or close your Account and your ability to use one or more Services or part of the Services, at any time, automatically and at our sole discretion where:- we have formally requested that you provide us with proof of your identity or to cease an action, behaviour, or breach of these Terms- we have reasonable grounds to believe that you have violated these Terms (including the Rules of Conduct) or any specific terms and conditions relating to any Service- for any other reason in relation to your actions in or outside of the Services- upon notification, where your Account has been inactive for more than six months.[legal.ubi.com]

Unless I'm missing something, Uplay can legally wipe your account. So if your spam filter in your email snags the notification email before you can read it, and six months lapse, you're out of luck.

in a way if you weren't using it for let say 6 months. are you truly using it or not? its like a child with their toys, if a toy they havent played with in months and they suddenly find out that parents is going to throw out all of their old toys, then suddenly the child will play or say they play with those old toys. something to think about - just using an example

that's a poor example , because we're taking about something that can be worth a few hundred of dollars and no it's not because you stop using it for only 6 months that you're done with it ... it's non sense.
They can't delete my account if I delete it first.

Haha take that Ubisoft.
