They usually fund the people (who make the shows) who write in these sex scenes.
And because 'sex sells', it's become commonplace in advertising and media for some time.
Like when movies and tv series had no music but rather loud ambiant from the surroundings. Or when slasher movies were all the rage in the horror scene. Like how people tried, and failed, to be like "Citizen Kane". Like when magic was popular in movies, or space, or high school, or realism.
It all just goes round an' round. It never stops but with time everyone understands it. Best thing I would say is just wait for the next big thing and hope it's something you enjoy. :P
I don't have a problem with sex scenes, but if they're tacked on and out of place, I find them distasteful.
