I haven't slept in 2 days...
I've tried taking a sleep aid and night time cough syrup at the same time I just can't fall asleep...

Go for a long walk / run or do an hours PT @ home (if under lockdown) then have a warm shower. Thats what il be trying, due to being in the same boat.

Get rid of alarm clocks that make noise. If you do need something to wake you up, get one which slowly increases light in the room to naturally wake you. It's extremely important not to break the sleeping wakeup cycle.

Your body releases chemicals upon falling asleep and waking up. It does this naturally with a body clock. So ideally keep to a sleep pattern. Go to bed at a certain time and wake up at a certain time. Depending on your age it could be between 6-8 hours as an adult and 8-10 hours as a kid/teen. A daily min of 4 hours and a max of 12 hours. It will take a week or two for the body clock to reset and adjust to your timing, but it loves a pattern it can follow. Stick to the timing at least 5 days of the 7 each week. You might stay up during the weekend, for example, but keep to it the rest of the time.

what works for me is lowering my heart rate, finding something that gets progressively more dull the longer it is played but at first is a bit of fun, i'd also make sure to sit on a comfortable enough chair. once the tiredness had really set in, i'd carefully shuffle my way to my bed and sleep it off.

if that don't work, i'd warm up milk on a stove, pour it in a cup when warm with a bit of honey, stir and let the milk take hold as it activates something in the brain that will let you taper off. i can't think of the action taken on the brain right now, but it should work if you are already very tired.

there are other means that can let you get some sleep including other more simple things that are a little too graphic and adult for these forums. it is just about finding a means to trigger the chemicals in the brain to let you sleep.

sort of like a warm almost ticklish sensation and just below that is a sense of dull pain? that is just muscle fatigue.

Welcome to my world. It's such a psychotic state of bliss.

But I take medications to help me sleep so, can I take my nighttime meds and there's no way I'm staying up more than and then an hour after that.

I sleep like ♥♥♥♥ fairly often, too.

Say I go lay down at 11:00pm. I can only fall asleep after 1 am. Then, when it's 3am, I wake up and can only fall asleep again at like 5am.

Very relatable. I got lots of sleeping issues, i cant even keep sleep schedule, because eventually i just get dead tired, and sleep for 16 to 18 hours.

Night sweats, waking up and cant fall properly asleep anymore, RLS, and sometimes after 8 hours of "sleeping" i feel so tired i need another 3 to 4 hours and wake at noon or evening.

Last time i had proper sleep schedule was when i was 19 i think. After that it got proggressively worse. I havent had a sleep schedule for maybe 4 or 5 years now.

Only time i feel like i slept at all, is if i take 2 hours nap, though i avoid it and i tend to take 30 min semi sleeping, and get my thoughts back on track or something like that.

Just wanted to tell you, you're not alone with sleeping issues. Its funny how its one of the most important thing for everyone, yet its never a good enough excuse to skip anything, if you cant sleep...

Even if you dont feel like dehydrated, try drinking lots of water, like 2 liters, eat something, and stay outside for few hours. When you go to bed, stretch your legs well.

Being little bit dehydrated and having tension in muscles affects sleep quality. Sometimes i dont know if i slep or not, even though i was at least 6 hours on bed. Then i get up only because feeling so hungry.

I don't think any of them play an integral role in the diurnal cycle unless you are talking about a very specific disorder
