I'm seeing ads but the ads are just a gray screen with a circle slowly spinning out of shape. My thoughts are that Adblock is in need of an update to keep ads blocked on Youtube.
I've never had any social media sort of folks like "content creators" ever tell me to buy premium or stop using a site if I run an adblocker, this is a first.
I've even had content creators in the past tell me that I should run adblockers on Youtube, but they're the types of creators that aren't using Youtube as a full time job, some even don't monetize their videos.
It's a hobby, not so much a job, something you choose to do, that may or may not make money based off of others agreements in which you're rewarded for assisting to get there. On top of that, you must generate ad revenue or otherwise be worth giving even a tiny part of the pie in order to be rewarded. This is why many content creators have paid sponsorship; direct advertiser-to-creator access; they're the product, you advertise the product, you get a portion of any given sale(s) by using a special code. In that case you still must file accordingly, paying taxes as misc unless you own an actual business. But don't go assuming you can write off an entire RTX TITAN; you can only write off the portion you use equipment for the business, if in an actual business, if you're being paid as you - it's still a voluntary rewards based system.
Think of it as multi-level-marketing (pyramid scheme), you do a great amount of effort, but the brand you're doing it for takes almost everything because it's their business and service, you're just there to move their products and their partners products and maybe you get something out of it, maybe. Now, if it was your job you'd be reaping a contractual hourly or salary based income, if an independent contractor your performance would directly affect payout as well.
Creators are again, entitled to nothing - and attempting to push for it more is only going to continue the ongoing disaster on youtube. You'd be better off cryptomining with a GPU that isn't 85% made up price and 15% actual manufacturing cost. Never buy a top end unit that is't much better than the tier below it if you're not using its raw power.
You'll never see ads again.
Make sure the ublock you download is by Raymond Hill.
To actually answer the question;
AdBlock Plus is working for me. If you have the little APB red stop sign in the upper right hand corner, click it and use report issue on YouTube.
It might be an incompatibility issue with your browser.
You can make sure the browser is updated.
Sometimes ABP has to catch up with other updates.
It’s no different between someone who does that and someone who marries someone for their money and wants to take half that money after a divorce merely because they’ve become accustomed to a certain lifestyle.
It’d be sort of like we’re all shareholders in the industry and make money when it makes money. It’s a pretty simple concept once you think about it for a bit
You can take helicopter money out of the equation entirely. The state covers basic needs. Food, rent, internet (yes, internet has become a basic need).
Nothing fancy tho. Simple meals that are filling and healthy, but not exactly Michelin star material; spartan accommodation that has a kitchen and a shower, but forget a garden for grill parties; and internet that's enough for reading mails, but you definitely won't be streaming movies.
You want to do better, want to have gourmet food, a balcony and internet that will give you a speeding ticket; you need to get out there and "create value" or whatever.
Of course it would take a tax redistribution, and I'd say you should not do this without a national vote, but the key idea here is that all you're doing is setting the minimum lifestyle standard for everyone. You keep the class divide, except that you make it more organic.
And it ain't perfect, obviously, but it beats the current system where you get rich by lying to people and taking their money so that you don't get held accountable for poor leadership.
