Why are Epic so hated?

I don't hate Epic or Fortnite. I like the freebies of it. Fortnite is probably a good game but not my thing. Why the hate?

Because they are trying to compete by making 3rd party games, exclusive for long duration and then they also want to take customer perks away, so that they can line the pockets of rich shareholders in publishers much more.... but while trying to say they do it for the avarage developer (they have no union, are underpaid and gain nothing from it)

I had a bad experience with Epic, but I don't hate it. After I made an Epic account the spam mail started, also everyday got lots of others mails saying that someone from Saudi Arabia tried to enter to my Epic and Fortnite account. Due to annoyance I ended up deleting and changing e-mail address.

I use to like epic before they got in bed with china, gears of war 1-3 was the ♥♥♥♥ as a kid (f for dom).
Now they do hostile takeover with exclusivity and sell your information which many do not like and the instability with some OS and softwares

Mostly its the data selling and exclusively bull that people hate.
Also some shady ♥♥♥♥ from china as well which a good portion don't like either.

Reasons why I hate Epic is because I hate their CEO (Tim Sweeney, who's a giant turd), their buying out games for store exclusivity, and their shady data management.
Their rabid fanboys don't do Epic any favors either.

They are a competition, yes, obviously. Why wouldn't they be?

The only competition Steam has is Gog and Humble Store.

Epic Store, Uplay and Origin are all worthless garbage.

I dont hate Epic games as much as i used to. Loathed them for making a child friendly version of PubG then saying they thought of the idea then winning when sued just because they had a team of lawyers while the indie dev could only afford what was in his area.
My whole stance on that was if i painted the mona lisa doing a kick flip, i still painter the Mona Lisa. Its not original. Someone can explain this ♥♥♥♥ to me cause after a while i stopped caring.

Epic gave me free games and im ok with that. Steam hasnt and has screwed me over more times i can count. Both with purchases and on the forums.

I dont get the people who say they hate Epic and their only reasoning is “it doesnt have the stuff Steam does hurdur.”

If only these people were alive before 2009. When steam first dropped its features were redimentary and buggy as hell. Because their was no rival to compare against they werent trash talked. I bet you in a few months if/wheb epic rolls out more features the new complaint will be “hurrrdurrr i hate epic store cause its copying steam!1!1!1”.

Steam has exclusives so whatever yall are smoking, i need some if that!

Steam also has chinese spyware in the form of Counter Strike Global Offensive. Case in point i played one game after 2 years of being away. Immediately had a chinese hacker try to use my card on a csgo skin.

Steams solution: call your bank and get a new card.

Two days later the same hacker hits a random guy who posted it on the discussions board.

So epic might not have all the bells and whistles as Steam, but at least they take hacking attempts seriously.
