Steam.exe - Bad Image C:\WINDOWS\System32\detoured.dll is either no designed to run on Windows or has an error
I've been trying to fix this for the past few days now. I've ran sfc /scannow and Malwarebytes, but nothing seems to be working, help!

Bring up a command prompt with admin privlages.

Enter regsvr32 /u detoured.dll to unregister the .dll

Then enter regsvr32 /i detoured.dll.to reregister it.

Did that work?

"Make sure that "detoured.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again"

Get a registry cleaner program like CCleaner or Winthruster, run it and have it clear out any dead or misdirected registry files.

After running CCleaner. I tried opening up Steam again, but it still says Bad Image and etc.
Did you do any recent installs before you had this issue?

By recent, the last program I downloaded was probably Spotify, but that was 1-2months ago. I'm just recently trying to get back into PC gaming
Hmmm. And you ran sfc /scannow, which I am not going to suggest again, but I hope you ran it as an admin. And you ran a malware check, which I hope you did in safe mode...

Well, you could locate Microsoft Research Detours Package in add/remove program and uninstall then reinstall it.

You can also grab your game folder out of Steam, uninstall that, then reinstall Steam and move the games folder back. Any installed games, steam will, when told to reinstall with simply detect the files and be good.

If you have been putting it off, make sure all your drivers are up to date and all the MS updates are processed would hurt.

Did u solve it?

For anyone reading this: the solution lies within the use of the AMD display driver software. You either installed this, or your system did this automatically. I removed the old driver with 'Display driver uninstaller', then I tried to reinstall the latest AMD display driver while choosing 'Minimal setup' on their download page! During install I clicked 'Custom' instead of express and deselected the audio driver.

This fixed the issue for me! Minimal setup is the way to go :) I don't know why...
