As for Void/Skull knight relationship - From hints throughout the series it seems the process to make a god's hand is through the same method. There appears to be much similarity between Guts & Skull Knight and in my opinion where Guts was Griffith's sword, Void was Gaiseric's tactician, when Gaiseric got his kingdom he no longer needed Void, Void summoned the godhand and the sacrifice of the kingdom led to his ascension and the birth as a member & the beginning of the birth of Gaiseric to Skull Knight (or at least obsession with fighting the god hand & wielding the Berserker armor so long his flesh melted away).
