How can I stop being so toxic when I'm gaming?
I've always been a really bad sport. I remember a few times in elementary school, for example, where my team would lose a game of dodgeball or something in PE and I would physically attack people from the other team. While I got over that stage, it has kind of transitioned into toxicity while I'm gaming.

Here's an example: I'm playing an FPS. If my team is winning/wins I'm typically really nice, throwing out a "good game" or something like that. However, if my team is losing/loses, that changes to horrible trash talk, which typically includes some genuinely horrible words. I always feel bad afterward to an extent, but I also get extremely angry. I don't want to be this pile of nuclear waste that explodes when my team loses, but I don't know how to stop it.

I need help. I used to play games with a lot of friends, but my toxicity drove them away. I want to improve my attitude but I don't know how. Anyone got any ideas.

Edit: Nice necro

You need help, so go and get help. There are people who make a living out of helping people with anger issues.

Yeah, you’re right. At the very least you’ll need an anger management course. If you’re really off the rails then you may even need to see a shrink.

First stop would probably be to talk to your doctor so that they can arrange a referral if necessary, or at least just pass an educated opinion.

Yeah, and if going for the management/therapy route, you then need to find someone you can open up to. Not all therapists are made equal, they have different methods, and not everyone will suit you.

If you try to kill someone over a single round in a Mario Party game then you need help desperately. Stop playing those kinds of games and get professional help. Now.

Try to find a really toxic game and play it.
Have a taste of you own "Medicine", maybe then you will realize - toxicity is actually not fun.

Only way you can do something about it, get away from the games a bit and learn to change some aspects of yourself. if you really do feel that bad, then act on it and do the right thing.

You´ve come to the right place.

Play more difficult games. Torture yourself with some horrible thing, that you absolutely loath, and gives you no pleasure whatsoever.

Just yell, if you need any suggestions. Just don´t cheat.

I've often keep hearing that what you eat and drink can alter you mood , so if you drink a lot's of stuffs that has coffee in it , especially energy drink you might want to cut on those things.

This is anger issues at it's max and I would recommend looking into therapy for it since other people can hide there emotions and or there anger better then other people.

But for me. What helped most was looking into freemasonry and joining the freemasions(soon). It made me a lot more calmer and since I just started working it helps my nerves a lot too.

But for you that might not work.

You can take breaks, play calming single player games, watch your favorite show/movie, drink some tea or something that you enjoy and treat yourself a little bit more in life.

sounds you need to do some meditation it like your overload your brain with stuff that don't matter that much.

if you play a FPS and 1 million $ is at stack sure i can understand, playing a casual game or even League but nothing is at stack nope.

a other thing that might work is seeing a few hours of video of your favorite team losing match after the other. this will force you to understand that even if they lost the match their is alwas one after that.

good sir you are trying to not to be toxic...i am going to help you gud sir...so whenever you loose say GG if someone shoots you but you see they missed that might just mean its ping...it all depends on what game you play tho
Rio 2020년 7월 10일 오전 8시 20분
Don't play FPS, play games that are more casual and togetherness, where everyone is a winner.
