How is it that TLOU2 is hated while Uncharted 4 is praised?
I've recently forced myself through Uncharted 4 and it's one of the most dull and boring experiences I've had in gaming.

Sure, it looks stunning, but there's no platforming gameplay in a game that has platforming! You just linearly push a button and watch the back of a dude climbing some rocks and walls, then do some extremely barebones pewpewpew, then exposition, rinse and repeat.

That game is widely acclaimed by players and critics alike.

Meanwhile TLOU2, which has simple yet fantastic hit&run stealth, brutal combat, wide open arenas resulting in unpredictable cat&mouse gameplay, is treated like it's the work of satan himself.

I'm at a complete loss. Even if you dislike TLOU2's plot, you gotta give the game credit for being a great GAME, unlike the colorful snoozefest that Uncharted is.

And yet besides a few threads here on Steam, I haven't actually seen or heard that much about it.

It seems to be the usual gamer rage. A fad where people act like sheep. It'll blow over, as usual.
Its more of the YouTube and online publication sites talking about it from all parties, it's very difficult to miss.

The dmca false claims was one of the biggest issues most people have over it, people couldn't discuss it one way or the other with even a slight criticism without being claimed and thus their income stolen.

Thats the behavior where a business should close their doors, a few people are actually suing them over false dmca claims since they made themselves an easy money bag target for abusing a legal system.
I'm not a youtube kind of guy and most online publication sites don't interest me. I have no idea what DMCA claims you are talking about.

To me it's the typical internet gamer rage. None of my friends or coworkers talk about such things, not even the two who actually played the game to the end. Stuff like this always only is online an issue.

Isnt Uncharted a rip off of literally every Treasure Hunting movie and game? It has elements of Laura Croft mixed with elements of Indiana Jones. Hell, the game goes as far as to straight up steal Jones characters. Both get fed up with being hunted that they want to quit but a spunky sidekick tells them to keep going.
I'm not against Uncharted's theme, but its gameplay is so ridiculously barebones to me that I can't enjoy being in the game regardless of how pretty it is.

It's the opposite for me in TLOU2, meaning even if I didn't like the story, the gameplay would keep me going

I believe it must have made many people uncomfortable and people are often unable to express or convey the outrage they feel.

Sony fanboys are some of the most ardent fanboys and almost on the level of Star Wars fanboys.

The characters in Sony exclusives are seen as mascots and ambassadors of the console which also explains the outrage.
Good point.

Abby isn't the most visually appealing character due to being aggressively masculine.
I would be unwise to judge disliking this image as it's something animalistic for most male - liking a female character with feminine features.

I was going into TLOU2 ready to be turned off by that myself, but ended up enjoying Abby's parts simple because for me she's a very well written character. Guess it's not a widespread opinion)

I think society has this expectation for women to be frail and feminine or they are discriminated against in some communities.

In reality, you only have to look at a woman that does trail running or climbing to see a woman with muscular definition.

However, many male gamers have been conditioned with the image of animated women with unrealistic body proportions that have the sole role of swooning over the Male protagonist.

I can understand how painful it must be to have a console without any mascot, at all. The only one that they could have had and that could have made things IMMENSELY different, Sony decided to...
to...
SELL IT.
Mascots should be even more important than exclusives for a console imo. I'm not saying of course that they are everything, but they are what tie every other thing together and give a console that feeling of belonging that ultimately (should) define what a console is.
And Sony sold it (I don't need to say that I am talking about Crash, right?)
I can understand the pain of those poor Sony fanboys.
The only thing that I cannot understand is... why the hell they still are Sony fanboys. Poor guys that don't even know how it feels to have a console with a proper mascot because they never experienced that feeling maybe...
I mean, even Master Chief is a better mascot than what Sony have now, and imo a character from a game that is not E rated cannot be that great as a mascot...
The only critics I've seen that have liked TLoU2 are the paid critics. No regular unpayed screwball that has played that game and critqued it has liked it.

If Joe/JoeAnne average doesn't like the game, it probably sucks.
Because they never actually played the game

Uncharted 4 is pretty cool though

Yeah Joe has lost credibility in my eyes after the TLOU2 review.

Boy would I not like to be a game critic right now, god forbid I actually say I enjoyed an extremely well-made game

One game is fun to play, the other isn't.
One game has a good story and rushed ending, the other has a bad story.
One game had Amy Hennig (also worked on TLOU), the other was made after she was fired
