How is it that TLOU2 is hated while Uncharted 4 is praised?

I've recently forced myself through Uncharted 4 and it's one of the most dull and boring experiences I've had in gaming.

Sure, it looks stunning, but there's no platforming gameplay in a game that has platforming! You just linearly push a button and watch the back of a dude climbing some rocks and walls, then do some extremely barebones pewpewpew, then exposition, rinse and repeat.

That game is widely acclaimed by players and critics alike.

Meanwhile TLOU2, which has simple yet fantastic hit&run stealth, brutal combat, wide open arenas resulting in unpredictable cat&mouse gameplay, is treated like it's the work of satan himself.

I'm at a complete loss. Even if you dislike TLOU2's plot, you gotta give the game credit for being a great GAME, unlike the colorful snoozefest that Uncharted is.

The reason TLOU2 got a ton of flack is because of how bad the story is, not necessarily because of the gameplay.

So far I haven't seen anything in that game that would outrage me as much as the internet had me believe.

But that's the point: Uncharted has barebones gameplay and a barebones boring story. To me at least. I just can't understand what people expect from a game anymore

I don't know, I played Uncharted 1 and did not want to play the sequels. I also have had the feeling that Uncharted 3 and 4 for me are particularly unlikable, but it's not that I really know much about them. From what I have heard I just had the feeling that in the later games the characters that were already boring and mainstream as the normie married adult next door became even more boring, normie, married and adult. And this is one of the things that I hate the most in games. Normality and real life. If I liked it I would not spend my time playing games.
For sure I don't praise any Uncharted, and as I said I have the feeling that Uncharted 3 and 4 are particularly bad - at least for my taste.

I have to admit, anyway, that Uncharted 1 at least was less bad than Jak & Daxter games. But it was still rather boring and forgettable anyway.

The company false copyright strikes just to silence opinions they don't like and threaten reviewers who score the game too low, they are trash people. And the head dev put himself as a self insert in a disgusting sex scene which is magically okay for sony while they hypocritically censor anything anime. The gameplay will always be crap, as it's purposefully bad aiming with the controller.

Should I go on? I can.

People said such things about TLOU1 also, yet I found that one a complete borefest.

It's all subjective. Most people I know who played Uncharted 4 thought it was amazing.

In the end, it all depends on taste. Plus people like to jump on a bandwagon, so if other people complain on social media, people will follow even if they don't share the opinion.

I can't really fault people for finding enjoyment in video games that personally interest them, I mentioned this in another topic, I think that's great since that should be what most players get out of them.

For the most part, that's what drove me away from the Uncharted series, whereas games like Spider-Man 2 had various unique gameplay elements that tied into the movie it was part of. Not everyone is going to like Spider-Man 2 and that shouldn't really be an issue just the same as Uncharted and TLOU2, as far as whatever games players personally enjoy goes.

Uncharted is a great franchise.Yeah the stealth is fine and the graphics too,exploration etc but one of the most important things sucks and thats the story.Angry joe points it out in every aspect

I found the risk-reward balance almost perfect there because of how dangerous the enemies were

I played on hard. It simply couldn't appeal to me. When the gameplay, story and characters don't speak to you, there is little in a game so I threw it aside.

Not a game for me, but that's ok.

Uncharted is a male power fantasy of adventure and sticks to friendly adventure themes seen in Hollywood films while The Last of Us 2 is a political statement.

i happen to dislike last of us 2, seen someone play it the gameplay is fine it's the joke of a story and ending i don't like tho i've never play'd the 1st one,, not to my liking at all
