Is it right or wrong to celebrate the 4th of July?
Sorry if there is already a topic like this, my computer crashed well at the time of publishing.

It's just out of curiosity!
Hello, first I would like to clarify that English is not my native language, so I am directly using Google translator and after Grammarly to fix my mistakes.

Let's say that in the following hypothetical scenario it happens:
To non-Americans (people from the United States of America), what would you think if the president of your country celebrated the 4th of July, which is independence day in the united states?

Celebrate in his decorated house, with typical decorations of American Independence Day.

A party, however small, with friends in a pandemic season, with miniatures of the American flag drawn on the table, probably in some corner where no photos were taken, there was a flag hanging on the wall.

And, who knows? at some point until I sang a part of the American anthem.

And a question to Americans, what would you think or even feel if President Donald Trump did that with, say, the day of independence from Italy or France? or any other country that seems to suit that example for you.
(Remembering that for the example it does not have to be a country that has good or excellent relationships, just any country that is not very involved.)

How would I feel if Trump in specific were to do it or the president in general? I wouldn't have a problem with them celebrating that day (although I would wonder why they chose one country in particular to celebrate, unless they had ancestry there or something). However, if the president had a history of xenophobia like Trump, I would question why he's doing and what his agenda is for radically changing his opinion.

I don't like this thread much. We all know how POTUS celebrated the 4th, he pretended the pandemic doesn't exist.

If he celebrated some other country in that weird house ceremony OP described, one would not be wrong to question his mental capacities. It's not really something a US president should be doing.

Attending a different countries festivities is another thing. It promotes good will between nations. But if he started singing "O Canada", that would be somewhat alarming.

As to Flag Burning, it's a finished ruling. People can burn whatever flag they like in the US, as long as it doesn't belong to someone else.

People do not have to value your flag over some other flag just because people died in defense of said flag.

Day of the dead is Mexican, Malcolm Tucker. It's been somewhat appropriated by United States Americans because of the dramatic fashion and art.

A James Bond movie inspired Mexico to ramp things up a bit.

The fourth has lost its meaning. I mean most americans dont know what the 4th of July stands for. All they know is shooting off fireworks and getting drunk. Americans already do this with holidays. Take for example Dia De Las Muertes(i butchered it my bad). Most americans use this day as an excuse to drink heavily and paint skulls on their faces. Very few know of its Christian origins.
I thought DoTD was partially hased off native beliefs.

RRW359 It is, but it's slowly being morphed into a weird halloween II.

It's perfectly fine to celebrate the 4:th July. American has done a lot of good things and you can be proud of those things.

Every single country in the world have done bad stuff in the past. Some have done more than others but what counts is what they are doing today.

That's why I say depot them all to a 3rd world nation or dump them in north korea.
It's not North Korea's trash to deal with. Why would you want to pollute the last sanctuary of cultural identity on earth.

People in the United States can celebrate what they want. No one can force anyone else to celebrate a holiday.

Celebrate the Marxist Holiday's like Kwanzaa.

Incidentally I couldn't think of any President who celebrated another countries Holiday like the OP mentioned except many left wing people including past Presidents like Obama have celebrated Marxist Holidays and that's an ideology that's specifically anti-American and foreign so I guess it would qualify.

And many view Obama as a traitor for actions like that. But I think celebrating other countries Holiday's doesn't have to be bad, Hong Kong has celebrated various American holidays honoring us. We''re a symbol of freedom.

The problem I am seeing is that many countries are at the moment too fixated on "past glory" to take on "today's problems" and "tomorrow's projects". You can't lead your nation into the future by trying to go back in time.

Radene, I'l sure you're familiar with our Wal Mart stores, which primarily sell Chinese products to us for really cheap.

Wal Mart's clothing line is called "Faded Glory".

I wonder how many Wal Mart shoppers understand what a blatant poke in the eye, what an intentional insult by China that brand name is?
