How and why can't I wash off smoked sausage off my hands? 0 smell just greasy feeling
I mean, I wash them with soap thoroughly, I clean under my nails using other nails and soap. I use hot water. It seems to be fine after I dry my hands with a towel.

There is no smell

Then after some time I can feel the smoked sausage lube on my hands, not so much the smell but the greasy feeling of fat. I wash my hands again. And again and again. And here I am like 3 hours after that feeling that stuff again and I am getting absolutely disgusted as it makes it filthy to work a keyboard.

There is no smell

I also washed areas around my mouth just in case.

And funny thing is if I touch my skin anywhere on my body with my fingers, the skin doesn't feel the fat.

It drives me insane.

There is no smell

Mix a small amount of white vinegar with baking soda into a paste and scrub that through your hands. Once it's dry, wash off.

Because regular soap is not meant to clean that, you need to use rubbing alcohol, sugar or baby/olive oil

damn. does it matter what vinegar? I only have normal vinegar.

Tomato juice is another option which will work. If you don't have either of them, lemon juice isn't as effective, but has the same effect. It will neutralize the odor and cut through any grease.

Mouth wash, if alcohol based, can also be another option.

Really? any tomato juice? Do I just soak my hands in it? I love tomato juice lol.

Yes, it works.

We don't have skunks here in New Zealand, but tomato juice is commonly used to neutralize that odor. So if it works for that, then it will have no issue with a little smoked sausage smell. They might however also mix Apple cider vinegar with tomato juice to be more effective. Otherwise it's more just masking it, rather than complete removal.

Wear glove when handling sausage.

sure it works on the skunk smell, if you do it for like 5 days in a row. all you do is maybe make the smell go away a day or two sooner. all those old home remedies suck, gotta use modern science like baking soda & vinegar.

well I got no smell. I just have the greasy fat feeling on my hands.

It's the acid from lemons, vinegar or tomato juice which helps cuts through grease and loosen mineral deposits. It breaks down the bonding, so you can wash it away more easily.

Baking soda with it, gives a chemical reaction which helps lift it.

Very basic science, but makes sense at least.

Soap is used to break apart bacteria, not really change how you smell.

Vinegar is used to remove the smell, don't know how many does this but it's a great thing to use in a washing machine when needing to remove the bad smells in clothing.

Use 91 percent rubbing alcohol it will take off the greasy feeling. That's why you don't leave finger prints on stuff after use alchol for a awhile.

you sure I wont burn my hands?
Rubbing alcohol will not burn you. It's not a acid. It's a topical antiseptic used on wounds. Granted it might burn when put on a cut. But it won't burn you.

man I guess I will hit the showers right now, since it is summer anyway.

Smoked sausages are so tasty yet they have this cover that you can only peel off with your hands and gloves would make it nigh impossible.

I guess I will have to give up this food lol. Dang

You can also try using the thing you use when doing manual dish washing. Might not work depending in the solution.

Any lotion/cream + sand. Rub your hands together and then add a bit of cleaning alcohol - careful, it may burn - and wash your hands with soap and water.

We use this to get rid of paint but it removes all your dead skin cells and all the smells/weird sensations, too.

my fingers get like that when I eat olives.

I rinse my hands in water then apply a hand moisturiser, seems to work fine to remove the grease.

Everybody should have at least a single dispenser or bar of hand soap for mechanics. If you don't have some, get some. Lava Soap, as Annabel mentioned, is a great choice. Sits there for years like an unchanging rock, still good whenever you need it. But there are plenty of brands to choose from, and not all of them are bar soap. There are pastes and liquids, as well. Find one you like, keep some in your house, then when you need it you have it. Because it sucks not having it when you need it, and you don't want to drive to the store (if it's open) when you need it and have that gunk on your hands, do you?

I keep a little tub of some paste type stuff in the garage, I can't remember the name of it. But it's there, if my hands are too filthy for the regular soap, I have my go to solution. I'd go to it and find out what it is for you, but I really don't care enough. lol
