Yes and yes. Despite the family's dysfunction, Al loved them all. He was protective of his children, he went out of his way to please his wife, he was never unfaithful, and he was a stable provider. Every day he drug himself down to that miserable shoe store and fought with rude, overbearing customers and their smelly feet just to support his whiny and lazy wife, skanky daughter, and useless son.

He could've just as easily walked out on them all and been a free man, but he didn't do it. He stayed and did the best he could with the cards life dealt him, always to his family's benefit but never his own.

Al Bundy was a true man's man.

You gotta love Al Bundy. I think his biggest contrabution to men's lives was his No Ma'am movement, and of course, his love of biggins.

Roflwut put it perfectly. He didn't take the easy way out, and gave us all a good laugh. The sort of guy you could have a beer with.

As much as i love Ed O'Neill, my tv dad was Dan Connor, John Goodman.

He and my real dad were rather similar.
