Japan and Demons
i dont get japan, a country that has many of its own scary demons yet they feature them in anime and tokusatsu all the time, seems they dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about how bad demons are and religion and everyone in the west growing up, you're just watching another episode and its the one that has demons in it and your parents walk in and hear and see that ♥♥♥♥. and now you're grounded cause japan doesnt care who watches it and who gets in trouble, oh but hentai will get censored even though its for adults. demons? nah thats super okay. yeah right

It isn’t that they don’t care, it is more that the West has been too pussified to just accept it for what it is.

Japan and USA are 2 different countries, that is where the line is
Hey, only a few yokai are evil or malicious. Most are akin to forces of nature, to be respected.

Sorry to hear your parents want to protect you from demons. Please understand though that the vast majority of the "Western world" stopped being scared of such entities quite some time ago.

DEman shouldn't be confused with the HEman

As if western media doesn't have anything that features gods and demons.
"Supernatural" comes to mind.

This is what I meant. Japan would look at this situation as odd (being punished for enjoying supernatural stuff). Hell, I was punished for playing with a Oujia board when I was younger.

TL;DR Japan sees things differently

Demons and ghosts, et al are firmly within the realm of folklore and make-believe.

Just because some fool cultist in America gets unhinged by a cartoon, that doesn't have anything to do with what animators in Japan are doing.

There are people who think Harry Potter is "Eeeeevil" too... not many people care about what those people think.

I don't consume much Japanese media, but I would guess that there's some loss in translation at some point. Demons in Japanese mythology are presumably different than Abrahamic ones, but unless the people making the translations are expert linguists, it's probably hard find an exact word for what they mean, so they use "Demon".

It is culture. Yurei and Oni (ghosts and demons) are popular in Japanese folklore and mythology for many hundreds of years.

demons are okay because they don't exist

Japan cares about culture and is mature.
