"Supernatural" comes to mind.
This is what I meant. Japan would look at this situation as odd (being punished for enjoying supernatural stuff). Hell, I was punished for playing with a Oujia board when I was younger.
TL;DR Japan sees things differently
Just because some fool cultist in America gets unhinged by a cartoon, that doesn't have anything to do with what animators in Japan are doing.
There are people who think Harry Potter is "Eeeeevil" too... not many people care about what those people think.
