Games I can play with my sister
My family has had it rough, and I need to teach my sister that she can have fun without constantly bugging my mother. I am 21, and she is 13 (though, without going into it, she has missed a few developmental years). All the games I have for consols are single player, and all the games I can find online are far too complex. Any suggestions for games, in steam or otherwise, that I can play with her? I'm looking for easy to learn, easy to play, non competitive, co-op games that do not require too much hand-eye co-ordination.

Oh that's easy. Simple game play lots of fun. I say Castle Crashers.

Just some advice: This game is currently infested with cheating bots on official servers. I suggest your sister should play on community servers. If she's sensitive, disable voice chat, text chat, and disable the ability to see sprays on community servers. I highly recommend to always keep voice chat off on official servers since the bots will play very loud stuff.

Fortunately, there's no cheating problem and only text chat exists. You can also disable text chat.
none of the above, especially TF2, she does not need to be exposed to that toxic cesspool.

I recommend these.

Get her a book.

So?

I've played plenty of single-player games with people.
If you know of a game that has lots of reading and a good story, that you're passionate about (or just don't mind watching / haven't played), you should try it. Let her play while you sit beside her and read it with her.
Try it.

Ah... "the game is too complex", well, in that case, you better just have her play Pokemon - a nice and un-challenging easy game (that many kids also find boring because it doesn't challenge them (Pokemon may be one of the highest grossing franchises but their profits are primarily from the toys, not the games)).

Most kids actually want to overcome a challenge that can make them feel proud of themselves but by all means... can't have any of that; they might get frustrated & cry...

If your sister likes shooting games and blood here you go thank me later.
Oh wait... simon says :happy_creep:
A few years back I made an account for my sister and I put some games in there for her, games like rayman and stuff. She tried them all and didn't liked any of them. Except one. if it's of any use to you, the game was this one

No coop but maybe she likes it.

Did you know that linking to games from the Steam Store on the Steam forums is considered spam!

I couldn't finish Toki Tori because it wasn't holding my interest enough.
Maybe if I played it at a younger age it'd be different. I'd still like to finish it at some point but...

Personally, I found Snakebird much more engaging:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/357300/Snakebird/
...but don't buy this game because I linked it here (decide for yourself) - because links to content on the Steam store are, supposedly, "spam"; therefore, the stuff they're selling in the store must be spam too. :^)

...however, I'm also the type of person who likes a challenge that leaves me feeling defeated for a while, thinking it is impossible while still being able to think through the problem (and you can think through all of the problems in Snakebird. It makes you have an acute awareness of spacial awareness, as well as learning how to utilize the uniquely unreal physics of the game-world).

I would recommend that people play Snakebird, just... maybe not together... it's hard to give someone hints and not the exact answer they're asking for but they won't be able to finish the game if you do the earlier puzzles for them. The earlier puzzles are there to teach you how to do the harder puzzles.

Links to the Steam store are, apparently, spam.
Doesn't matter what the title, description, or content of the game or topic is:

I'd like to thank everyone who posted helpful comments. I will try to respond to as much of it that I can.

I got her a nintendo a while back, but she never uses it.

when I say complex I don't mean difficult, I mean she will not read words, ever, (not because she can't, she likes reading books and stuff, but because she refuses to read anything on a screen for some reason). So anything story and/or lore heavy doesnt work, and she has difficulty learning too many controls so that is also a limiting factor.

she is not very interested in fantasy settings; in fact they seem to disinterest her in whatever it is. and she is very sensative to certain thematics, so I'd like to steer away from particularly violent games, though I am personally a large fan of games like TF2.

I like the looks of toki tory and snakebird. I might get portal, as she does like puzzle games...
And thank you MikeBob for the link.
