You would probably be surprised how close is King of the Hill was to actually living in Texas. I didn't care for the show much though. Except for the no that's my purse episode. That was actually pretty funny.

There's a lot of shows that nostalgia paints in a better light. Until you watch them again. The only ones I still actually enjoy from the 90s and early 2000s are probably Aeon Flux and Daria. And I'm actually glad they both ended. No beating a dead horse there, and they are far better for it.

Family Guy would have NEVER taken off without the presence of Bryan and Stewie, those two were the show. Along with Carter, Quagmire and Adam West.

Bryan and Stewie in the start where okay. It's only in the later seasons where they got better. But for me Peter did plenty of fun stuff that I laughed at. A lot.

Just because YOU liked that combo does not mean everyone does. For me I've laughed far more at things that Peter has done than Bryan and Stewie. They still produce a lot of good episodes but they are not Peter Griffin.

American Dad is lame. That show would not have made it without Roger, Steve as his Side Kick AND Patrick Stewart as Bullock .

Once again, Roger wasn't everything in the show. Stan had plenty of good moments.

South Park season 1-14 are brilliant. Sure it's offensive, but the beauty is that there isn't anything "not fair game", they are making fun of everything (even themselves), so can't really take it personally. It's actually a very clever show, even with all the fart comedy.
But yeah it fell off after that. Watched season 15 and 16 and then I gave up on the show.

Re watch the first few seasons again because I'm betting you saw them as a kid. They are not that great anymore. I thought the first seasons where great because I saw them as a kid. Now? Not so much. Highlights where about seeing Kenny die for most episodes.

Southpark got MORE offensive in the later seasons too. Like A LOT.

Anime refers to Japanese cartoon shows where as Family Guy are that of a normal Cartoon.

Two different things. It's been like this for eons, it's pointless to argue about it. Go somewhere else if you want to argue about the meaning of the word.

All those shows mentioned in OP were overrated when I was growing up and they're still overrated now. I remember Family Guy, in particular, had some of the worst tryhard attempts at comedy I've ever witnessed. *Peter injures foot/leg* "AAAAUUUGHH!!!... AOOWW!!!... AAOOWW!!... AUUGHH!!... OOOWWW!... AUGH............................ AAAOOOHHH!!!... OAAAGHH!!!... HAAAAUUUGH!!!..."

Futurama gets honorable mention for its uniquely bland/dry sense of humor.
