Kind of like people who sit and watch sports for hours. I myself find that boring.
Why they pay money? I will not question it. Kind of nice to get donations.
Hobbies to me are an activity you do. Watching TV is not considered a hobby. Im with you on sports, hockey is the only sport I actually enjoy to watch. Watching baseball, or golf, or football or soccer etc etc is like sticking ice picks in my eyeballs.
And yes its nice to get donations. Hell I imagine its beyond nice to get money to play games, but why would anyone actually donate?
Heres my mindset. If im on youtube and come across a frag video of csgo or whatever, I get the urge to play it and play it. I dont sit there for hours and watch it. Isnt that just boring when you could do it yourself just as easily as you can watch it?
It's personal preference. Maybe they can't play the games themselves? Maybe they like the person who's streamings playstyle, or their commentary, or their sense of humor. It's just something the enjoy and you don't.
As for donations, it's their money, they do with it as they please, supporting something they enjoy. That is all there is to it.
Different strokes for different folks. Ain't no reason to wonder over it. It ain't your bag.
That I can see, that makes sense to me.
And obviously I understand that people do it for enjoyment. I didnt think people watch streams because they find it as fun as taking a battering ram to the testicles. My question is what enjoyment do they get out if it. Is it interesting? Funny? Amsuing? What?
The point that I was really driving at is, why watch when you can play just as easily. And before you go to, why watch sports when you can play them... Playing sports involves finding people to play with, getting them together, having the time for it, etc etc. You ever try and get a bunch of friends together to play hockey or football or something? Its a pain when youre kids, let alone when you are an adult and have responsibilities and no time. But playing a video game takes seconds, 0 effort involved besides walking over to the computer.
