31 years old and still unemployed. Is this normal?
Yesterday I met a man. He is 31 years old and still doesn't have a job. Is this considered normal?

No ofc not,
You're supposed to be employed on +18 as long you already finished highschool and college/univ.
Even younger student could work their ass to get a job.

It's definitely not the norm. But there are ways to live like that - inheritance, getting lucky with market speculations, top secret government employment....

That man passed high school and college many years ago. He said that he is tired and bored of living like this. So is it possible to get a job at this age?

Yes, but harder than 12 years sooner. He needs to get really active, try to brush up on the stuff in his field, take a course or two - just to show he has initiative.

Sure!

At McDonalds or as a grocery store bagger!

At 31, you should have at least a couple years of experience. Hell, I had a job at 16, worked through college, and have worked my ass off since.

But this is the really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad part of the evolving society. It was part recession, part consolodation, and 100% pussification of society that leads to this. This is not an isolated example, and I suspect, for the next 20 years or so is actually going to become a norm...

I would whup them people into shape, but you are not allowed to spank children now days for acting a ♥♥♥♥.

According to most people, no. Hell, according to most people some jobs don't count as jobs just because they're not "nine to five monday to friday".

Well the problem he has zero work experience.

Yes, that's why "harder than 12 years sooner". So he'll have to overcome that. It's not impossible, but it takes effort.
