If you create mods in video games can you put it on your resume
As silly as it sounds, would it help? I mean it would look silly if you tried to get into coding but I figured if I created some apps/programs that it wouldn't hurt to add mods I created to add icing on the cake.
I'm just desperate to try and get my resume as good looking as possible.

That would be put under hobbies, not as work experience.

Here's what makes your résumé impressive: Get a bachelor of science in computer science. Otherwise, you're just a loser living in mom's basement.

Yes. Definitely list it.

I guess it depends on the job being applied for and the nature of the mod itself. For example, I don't think it would be a waste of time and space if you happen to point out that you created something like Nehrim: At Fate's Edge[en.m.wikipedia.org] when applying for a game design position perhaps

Only if you make mods Creations for Bethesda's Creation Club. :steamhappy:
Just phase it as "experience in computer scripting" rather than creating mods.

Just like watching Netflix can be written as "independent film study".

I do think individuals are often more practically experienced than they might realize. There's little that can't be rightfully claimed as experience, in my opinion; especially if you properly word it!

Resume's must be constructed specifically for the company you're applying for.
If video game mods are relevant to the job offering, then feel free to include it. Send a porfolio of similar projects even.

If you send the same exact resume to several companies, then do not be surprised if most of them ignore you.

Hard to say. I tried to get a job at gamestop before and I am a video game collector and a expert at talking about video games while also knowing how to make videos about video games and a little bit of level design.

My thoughts on why I did not get the job? Maybe they were intimidated by me.

Yeah. It's to demonstrate that you can make levels, or programming. Doesnt matter if it was work for money or not. Only quality of work matter.

Dont put bad work in portfolio, obviously (such as orange aim maps for CS:GO)

If the job has anything to do with software, coding or computers in any way then yes, put it as experience.

If the job is nothing at all to do with those things then put it as a hobby.

But either way definitely include it. It shows you can work on your own initiative and have a drive to create.

TY thats kind of what I meant. If I went though the effort to make a mod and patch it during updates or fix a script I feel like you should at least be able to mention it, it would show you have intentions on maintaining your work.
of course this would be useless in a sales position but if it was for something Computer or game related I feel it would be handy.
If you made some god-tier mods, then sure.
