What was the first video game to feature DLC?
I want to buy 50 copies of that game so I can burn it in a bonfire.

Define DLC, as in the days before Steam/Origin etc, there were "expansions" for big box retail games....does this count ?

I would guess it would be for some strategy game lol. Also only bad DLC is bad. SC: BW is maybe better then most games ever given out lol.

Depends. The first game to offer mods was Doom. The first game to push expansions was maybe Warcraft 3. The first game to sell content for DL was Elder Scrolls 4.

I have no idea, but I THINK first Doom got some expansions which weren't made by ID Software, but were licensed by ID Software instead.

Does that count? It's not "Downloadable Content" but it's pretty close.

Were those not just fan made maps packs harvested from BBS and sold on CD ?
Yes, but they were still licensed.... I think....

As I said, I don't know if that counts, but that's the only thing that came to my mind.

PC gamer dropped a few on 3.25 with the Id name attached, so I would assume sort of.

Legit the same for me... I know that some games sell their DLC as expansions now because it got a better rep then DLC, but still does the same... Also pretty sure EVERYTHING from the 90s was sold as expansions and not DLC, but might be wrong.
