So what is wrong with being a fanboy?
Usually when someone calls you a fanboy its meant to be taken negatively, but AFAIK being a fanboy just means you really like something? Youre a fan or XXXXXXXX.

The only time I get called a fanboy is when someone talks trash about a game that I like and it usually ends up in an argument where im called a "fanboy" but like what is wrong with liking something and defending it?

inb4 someone says "why defend a game, its pointless" you can say that about anything. Why play computer games in general if its just a pointless hobby?

If you're talking about being a fan then there is nothing wrong with it but there is also nothing right with it either.

"Fan boy" as others have put it are the ones that are too defensive and won't take anyone else's negative opinion.

So a "fan" is a regular person who enjoys whatever.

A fanboy is a pushy extremist who enjoys whatever?

I want to keep my terms correct.
I'm a Witcher fanboy. If I could I would dress like Geralt and walk in the local mall for everyone to see.

Unlike a fan, a fanboy refuses any criticism made to a game. To them the game is flawless and anyone who disagrees is a hater.

It is fine to really like something. It is important to maintain a perspective on it and be open to criticism.
It's trying to shame people about brand loyalty.

When it comes down to it these are just corporations and they don't really care. You owe them nothing.

Id pay CD Projekt Red thousands to make another Witcher game.. or finish Cyberpunk 2077.

Fanboy is a derogatory term and not something you're supposed to self identify as. It's a fan who irrationally defends the thing he's a fan of, not being able to admit that everything has it's flaws, branding everyone who disagrees with them as the enemy.

Oh. I am just a fan then. Glad to know it's a derogatory term. I learn something new here everyday.
I think the important difference between being a fanboy and just liking a company or game is fanboys act like they're on the payroll and spend all day advertising and praising a company online. Fanaticism, i guess.

fanboy....
Well. In what context where you called a fanboy? You can fanboy over a franchise, or over a company...
Anyway- I'd say fanboy over anything you want. But DON'T be a brony. Never be a brony.
Fanboying leads you to think biasly one-sided.

There's nothing wrong with being a fanboy of Nvidia, for example, having a brand loyalty. Until you start ignoring AMDs new graphics card which have started to compete again. Then when someone asks you which is best to purchase for their own system, you jump and say Nvidia is better, giving off a mass list... then scream and shout at those that say well AMD might be cheaper and better in this case for the person. The fanboy inside you never even considers or researchs other options anymore, trying to push that out upon others too.

Liking something a lot? Fine
Liking something so much you can't acknowledge flaws in it? You have a problem.

There's a difference between having a hobby, and trying to shame others for not liking it. Fanboys do that. If you like something, great for you, you're not a fanboy. If you go out to shame/argue with people who don't agree with you, then you're a fanboy
I thought Fanboys are people who are overtly passionate about something, beyond any attempt to try and be objective about it. You know like unconditional love or something?

I am just a mere fan and Fallout 3 and Stalker SOC the two best games like ever (with maybe Skyrim).
