How hardcore is/was your schools website block list?
I'm happy to say that my school has a pretty lenient block list, only banning popular game sites, YouTube, and inappropriate/illegal content. However, when I was in Middle School they didn't block anything until 8th grade when they started using a program to auto block sites. It went WAY overboard and blocked things like Google and the school's website. For most of the year, you couldn't really be asked to do any research or anything because you couldn't access anything.

i wasn't in school, but some libraries i went to had a blocklist for some sites, like coolmathgames and friv. i would say it was lenient.

Not really, there was a filter on YouTube and they blocked the most obvious XXX websites, but everything else was still very accessible.

I dunno I never had a reason to test it.

I guess it blocked the usual game sites and stuff.

I was in school from about the 90's to early 2000's, and it was basically a joke.

That sucks. We could always find plenty of porn sites to surf while bored with whatever class was happening. Or comedy sites, since we could only do so much with the porn sites.

I went to high school in the 90s. I don't think my school even had an internet block list back then.
I remember at one point, the closest things we had were LANs for the computer club. Only got to spend time there once or twice though.

Yeah, the internet was still very slow and rudimentary when I was in high school. Encarta on CD-ROM was usually a far more effective way to do research for schoolwork. Or good old-fashioned books.
Ahah, geeze, I do remember Encarta. Thanks to the internet, and network technologies in general, students no longer have to carry 5 or 6 gigantic text books around (or rush over to their lockers to put some of them away) @_@ I never figured out how people made time to get to their lockers so I was lugging around all of them to each class and home everyday.

I'm thinking scholastic web services today are way more user friendly when it comes to getting stuff done.

You had to make sure some classes were near your locker, or that the fastest way to get to some of them was to go by your locker. And you had to have the combination thoroughly memorized and be able to turn the dial super fast. And then just carry only the books you need until you stop off at your locker.
