They kept nerfing my main class which was the Stamina Nightblade, I will admit, it was the most damaging and hard hitting class, but they nerfed it to the point where it was unplayable. It was a physical attacker, the buffs and the gear surrounding it kept getting nerfs.
My DPS went from 60k to 45k then eventually 30k
I have had enough of the games ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I had 500 hours on the class, till I made a new one and then just got bored of the game.
Hypothetical here, but if there is a game where the most fun I get out of it is abusing some OP build to trivialize the content, then there are far bigger underlying issues with that game that simple balancing changes won't fix. Now, if the developer understands this, and actually makes an effort to issue a wide number of changes that address "the game in its current state", then I might not be opposed to them doing it. However, developers putting in this kinda effort into "patches" is quite rare, and not typical at all. It's usually low effort "nerf this" patches. And that will 100% run me off.
Yeah, I agree with that. Getting familiar with, or comfortable with a game is the reward at the end of the tunnel for all the effort you put into learning the game. Them constantly changing this means there is no reward at the end of the tunnel. The game feels less rewarding, I don't feel like I'm winning anything if I'm constantly having to adapt to a changing game. That's too much work/effort, and more than I'm willing to put into a game these days.
MMORPGs are the most versatile and unique type of games, thus and of course, versatility requires great managebility.
The reward is still there, it just means that much more you need to do to get that same reward. Which depending on the game, it's not always a bad thing. With all of that said, I don't expect the game's development to cater entirely to me, but at the very least give me something to still enjoy the game.
I played D2, and while there was balancing changes, they were pretty rare especially years after development. People made Median XL, and I did not like Median XL precisely because of all the "balancing changes". Honestly I think PoE was inspired by D2 Median XL.
I think it comes down to, are you looking for a game to pass time on the side, or are you looking for a new religion? People wanting to play the same game for years that's constantly changing seem to me like they've adopted that game as their new religion.
Unpaid job is a better way of looking at it. The game being their boss.
The developers are their bosses, and these people are unpaid shills. Because they love whatever they get, even if it's a ♥♥♥♥ sandwich without the bread. But hey, whatever floats their boat.
I have, not a lot tho it became boring fast, titan quest ish.. i play Grim Dawn now instead, but thanx ^^
