Are modern gamers hypersensitive?
Dan Houser said the new Grand Theft Auto couldn’t be made in the climate of today because too many people would be upset.

Are gamers becoming more hypersensitive because of societal changes? Was the movie Demolition Man right about the future when people were fined for swearing?

I'd say it's just the vocal SJW minority that sways politicians and big corporations on social media platforms like Twitter into sterilizing content. I mean just look at Red Dead Redemption 2, takes place in 1899 and they're afraid to use the language of the period. I don't think gamers are the ones who can't handle it, it's all the Karens online.

Well, this reminds me of all the criticism towards Cyberpunk 2k77, which for some reason came from the right wing of the political spectrum, the conservative wing as well.
So i guess Karens are found all over the political spectrum, not just the left/far-left.

It's not the gamers, it's the "journalists" that get angry at the dumbest ♥♥♥♥, and because they're so vocal, developers and publishers bend the knee wherever they can.

Society is forcing you to fit in the box and the size of that box will be to your government liking, if you think you can't express yourself now, wait another 5 or 10 years

That movie had everything right ofc...
I am starting my own company as a side business, it will be called 3Shells (the logo is 3 silver shells) and I am doing so because of the toilet paper crisis.. My products will be long lasting and natural.

Nah. It's just the internet.
Certainly.
Modern gamers spend too much time in the Internet.

Demolition Man was made in a time when media was much more censored.
you can get away with quite a bit more on television shows and movies now.

I think it's people in general, not just gamers.

Sign o' the times.
Can't blame them, school nowadays teaches us to be "hypersensitive" if I understood this correctly.

I disagre. I really depends on the region you are from and the individual institutions

For all these cries of "sensitive snowflakes" from them, the right wing does like complaining about video games not suiting their taste lol

Not the way I saw it, All the crying about cyberpunk came from RPS that was upset you have to kill too many black people and of course the wierdo crowd on twitter that cried about "transphobia".

You don't remember any of the Battlefield "controversies"? Or the guy up there complaining about RDR2 not having the "language of the period"? Right wingers get just as triggered as anybody else, sorry to tell you.

Rock Paper Shotgun, they got all hot and bothered because in the demo the player was killing too many "people of color" in their view.

They were also upset that valve didn't make a BLM statement. Like it's valves responsibility to comment on something happening in US politics.

the "battlefield controversy" was a legit criticism and the response from dice was shameful, probably one of the reasons why BF5 was such a flop. I guess a majority of gamers are "right-wingers" to you then?

And I never heard about the rdr2 "controversy".

One look at every gaming "news" website should dismiss that it's so-called "right-wingers" are the snowflakes. It's every day some new thing those bloggers are upset about.

Just the other day someone wrote an article that amazon's 'New World' was a "white supremacist fantasy".
the only "rdr2 controversy" is when someone posted a video of attacking a ingame feminist.
not "language of the period"
pretty sure he's pulling it out of his ass at this point

You'll find outrage from any side of the political aisle, and sometimes, this "outrage" is manufactured.

The BF5 one may have been fair (I lost interest in the franchise by that point so I didn't pay it much attention, I don't know all the details about the complaints), but I distinctly remember a bunch of people bravely taking to the forums to complain about African-Americans appearing in BF1 because it isn't "accurate". Just because they don't run the blogs doesn't mean they're not there.
