The best things that can be said about Papa Johns is they're cheap (but not as much as Little Caesars) and rather generous with the reward points programs. I suppose including dipping sauce and a pepperoncini by default instead of as an extra add-on is noteworthy too.
Their crust tends to give me heartburn, though.
Pricing on things like dips, sodas, and sides are pretty exploitative. Which is too bad, because it's easily the best major chain for dipping due to crust design.
There's a surprising amount of attention paid to the acidity balance of the pizza, as well as avoiding heartburn or the indigestion concerns of a thickly greased cheese layer.
Garlic salt is applied liberally to the surface but doesn't penetrate, providing flavor but not dictating it.
Their sauces are well-designed in the sense that between the varieties available there's probably something that blends well with a specific topping schema, but matching those up can be a chore depending on taste. It's also very disappointing to get varieties that don't blend well, as they either render the pizza largely tasteless beyond the bready crust or accentuate some flavor or another which is difficult to eat much of.
Anyway, it's a good choice if you need to feed the family on short-notice. It'll fill bellies, but not impress anyone. Forgettable/mediocre, basically.
doesn't matter where you get Pizza anymore, it isn't real pizza, ~_~
I don't care how you spice it up, you can't possibly make it taste like real pizza...
