"Sorry, but this product is not available for purchase in this country." Question
I bought a key online from a good site, it was a global key US steam key. When i enter the key it says
"Sorry, but this product is not available for purchase in this country. Your product key has not been redeemed."

My question is, is there any way i can use the key on steam if i change some settings?
P.S. i already put in a ticket, I'm sure they will give me a new key, etc just was curious are there any options while waiting.

If you try to bypass region restrictions then Valve will lock your account permanently. You will just have to wait for the key dealer to correct the situation. I had a similar issue with gamesbillet and they fixed it quickly.

Edit: Be aware that some of these companies might be short staffed right now and it might take a while for your issue to be resolved. Good luck.

They won't give you a "new key" if you bought that illegally available key on a shady third party site. The site won't either, they have your money.

I love how you say "on a good site" - let's just say if the site name is censored in any way here, it's not a 'good' site, and Steam knows that it's there to rip customers off.

If you want to buy a game for your account in your country, you have to buy it legally through Steam and if it's not available in your country *change your country's political stance and import laws*.

They're not going to give you jack, let alone a new key.

I got a key from gamesbillet that didn't work last year and they fixed it quickly. You do have a point that not naming the site might mean that they bought it from someone less reputable.

I don't see how hard it is to buy here in steam instead of third party site.

About a 75% price difference sometimes. There's a nice little site out there that shows which key dealers are legit. isthereanydeal.com (see how that's not censored)

Hope the "good site" knows how to not illegal evade tax.

Avoid attempting to bypass country restriction, unless you want a terminated Steam account.

Official Steam game resellers:
- GreenManGaming
- Amazon
- Gamers Gate
- GameStop
- GamesRocket
- Humble Store / Humble Bundle
- Rebellion Gamestore
- Game.co.uk
- Indie Gala
- Bundle Stars

Avoid using others, not on the official reseller list.

I mean HumbleBundle and G2A are the most trust worthy in the marketplace. It's really gullible to choose other key dealers from a different site.

G2A, is not an offical reseller, but rather the grey market purveyor of game keys which some game developers hate more than pirates. Because you are actually paying for their lost in profits.

Mike Rose (India Game Developer) back in 2019 and I quote: "G2A has taken out sponsored ads on Google, which mean that when you search for our games, you get G2A popping up above our own links — and we make zero money on our games if people buy through the ads. Devs don’t see a penny either way, so we’d much rather G2A didn’t see money either."

I don't know if they still do that, but multiple times that website had made a lost for game developers.

Ah I see, I did sort of read of that when it said it hurt for indies. But it was legitimate.

Um, I don't go around buying keys from illegal sites lol. I bought it from gamivo. Been buying games from there for 3 days now, no problems up until recently. Just one bad key it seems, out o what 10 other games no problems.

Anyways i was just curious, thought i could change my country from steam options to use the key and just switch back and forth. But its cool, i will wait until they get back to me.

I just bought Detroit human a few mins ago from Epic Games, going to play that for a while.

Cheers.

They might be working with game developers more closely these days, but if you are wondering why it's censored.

Do NOT change your country or attempt to use a VPN, etc. That is not a good idea!

The country restriction is there for a reason, to prevent tax evasion in those countries.

You might pick up a video game cheap in Russia, for example, but you aren't paying your country tax upon it, which is illegal.

SSA legal agreement:
"You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose. If you do this, Valve may terminate your access to your Account. "
