Share your earworm, Spread the misery
I've had a few bad ones lately, first it was "Give it up" by KC and the Sunshine Band, then "Homicide" by 999. Now I have this cheesy song stuck in my head:

Even the music video is perfect for meme material. If I'm going to suffer I'm going to bring you down with me.

Here is one that's been going on almost 30 years:

Ha! I commented on this video like two years ago and thought I got it out of my system. It's following me across the internet.

Kind of a meme/leg. status.
I hated that song when it came out, Annabel.

All it says is "We were big when Woodstock was a thing! How come you kids won't notice us any more, even though we changed our name twice just to stay HIP? It was US that built this, not your MTV!"

It's one big boomer musical complaint.

No matter how hard MTV tried, even that song couldn't make them hip again.

I think, to be hip, you also have to have good product. Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel, at the same exact time, somehow managed to remain hip. To name but two. ZZ Top did too. Even though their 70s music was far superior.
Go back two streets, take a left.

What I mean is that Starship (nee Jefferson Starship, nee Jefferson Airplane) lost every bit of their creativity by 1985, but still wanted the popularity. MTV tried to help, but it couldn't, because they weren't making any good music any more. Despite MTV's power, image wasn't really everything, even in the 80s. It had to actually sound good, too.

I hear they were popular on Kashyyyk back in the day...
Hugsie, please tell me you're kidding. They weren't on the Christmas Special, were they?

Oh, dear lord in heaven....
