Below 30's (these days) life is stuffed with major first times. School, high school, college, first job, first love, first house, first kid. It shapes and changes people and being with someone who's several steps behind can lead to friction. Because what seems life and death in high school is utterly silly when you're working, bought a house and have your first kid on the way. Once you're past that, age differences start to mean less and less.

Anyway, that's my philosophy.

Because you were a full grown man dating someone who hadn't finished puberty. There is a world of difference between a 12 year olds world and an 18 year olds world. There's a reason it became illegal, at least in the states.

This formula is good. It actually did produce the youngest age that I'd personally feel comfortable partnering with (barring some totally unforeseen, 'out of the blue' life encounter, I imagine).

That's not a "formula"; it's a meme.

Also, "unforeseen out of the blue encounters" is how things often happen - regardless of age.

There is a reason for this. First is guys date down in age typically. Second of all ages are too far apart then both parties will be at very different stages of their life.

An 18 year old is starting college.
A 30 year old is moving into their first house
A 24 year old is 2 years into their first real job after college an 18 year old again is just starting college.

A 30 year is thinking of having kids.
A 40 year old is kinda done with having kids at that age.
