is The Epic Store Still Spying on You?
So I want to download World War Z and play it but I remember the controversy that the Chinese company Tencent put spyware into the launcher because they had a 40% stock in the company and wanted to monitor users for whatever reason. I uninstalled the launcher quickly after that speculation went around as I was starting to get chinese emails and some fradulent charge was on my card from somewhere in China. But I wanted to know if anything changed since I cannot find any recent news that says otherwise.

Do u really trust a company that is owned by Tencent and Walt Disney Co. ? Do you really think that they are fallen angels and give games for free just because they love you ?
more accounts = more data = more money
Nothing is free (only winrar but 7zip is better ^-^)
Isn't Winrar a paid software?

I don't recall stating that I prefer to use Epic's model. It's interesting how you know so much about the controversy surrounding Epic. yet have you ever read into the negative aspects of the other clients? For example: GOG has extended their refund policy to 30 days which they didn't alert the sellers about. This will not only hurt sales for many independent devs, but heavily increase abuse with the returns system. Players can actually play the game and request a refund, without questioning. My point here-- every client has their negatives and positives. Every client serves its purpose differently.
but thats a good feature, finally something for and not against customers, I agree that they had to inform sellers but in the end.. does it make any difference in the long run? maybe in the first month
I don't see anything wrong with Steams refund policy -- playing the game for two hours is long enough to know if you enjoy the game, or not. With GOG's new policy, you could potentially complete an entire game within 30 days time and demand you get your money back. How is that fair to the dev's who worked hard to make the game? I'm sorry, but this policy is awful for multiple reasons.

Speaking of which, I just bought The Crew 2 from the Ubisoft store.

It sucks. Played it for less than an hour.

No refunds. Period.

I won't be buying anything from the Ubisoft store from now on. F^%@ them to tears.

If you are a EU citizen you can get your refund, it will be annoying, but you will get it.

My fault for being too stupid to take the free trial first.

Twenty bucks down the drain.

it gives 30 days free trial but forever
Gog shouldnt have refunds. You buy it there u actually own it download it and store it forever. You rent it on steam then at least you can refund.

Yes, I'm a fanboy. A fanboy of well crafted gaming clients, which EGS isn't.

It took me 7 years to finally start buying games on Steam, perhaps it will be longer with Epic (at the rate they are moving).

Another reason why GOG isn't popular with developers and publishers alike. Being DRM free means you can buy a single player game, download and refund. It's wrong on all levels to do this but people do and people will.

What you talking about dude, epic is jet fighter compared to what steam was in the same time frame. But I agree, steam is a better client but as long as games on epic are cheaper then thats were im buying.

Well, then you have developers giving GOG customers the shaft, withholding updates and DLC which appears in other version.
Seems only fair.

Jet fighter? no, but they should be further along, what with precedent already having been set.
The ground already laid. The path already worn for Sweeney's dainty little toes.

Steam took a very long time to start to include features, couldn't blame them back then, steam was still new and valve were also working on some of the greatest games ever made in that time frame but they got there. I been using steam for over 16 years now and I can tell you it was slow going in the beginning.

I have yet to use their services so I doubt they're spying on me. They need to start selling games I might be interested in first. Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things; if they want to know what things I like that's fine with me.

and didnt improve in last years and just taking our money, many customers are simply forced to use it, a company should work to gain customers, not just sit there and count money like valve does

Business is business end of the day and valve like M$ is very good at it. Valve has had a near monopoly with PC gamers for well over a decade now until epic games store was released.
