I'm sick and tired of game remakes
Stop remaking the same games and make something new, movies are already bad enough for this, so video games aren't any different. It's a waste of time which should be spent coming up with new ideas for sequels instead.

i also hate remakes / remasters. It feels kinda cheating to me.
Instead of creating new ideas / stories, the developers pick an old title which they already did business with and made their share of profits. Now selling it again for $60. Resident Evil series for example. Also Final Fantasy Xii $50. And many others.

Yup, exactly, & to think, eventually people will catch on...

oh, ff7 got a remake?
well well just pass on ff8 remastered,
& wait for ff8 remake instead...

Things like that will start happening...
I don't think remastering an old game is bad by any means. As having a game that has been lost to time brought to a newer system, allows both a newer and returning players to have an easier way to play a game. And with improvements like higher resolution and higher refresh rates.

Remakes however, I would prefer them to make a new game, especially if they put in the kind of effort that the remake for Final Fantasy 7 has.

But at the same time, I can acknowledge that might be just the old mindset in me talking. Having something familiar go in different direction, can be a way to make a game expand that wouldn't have been possible originally. Or to fix game mechanics that have not aged too well.
I like some of the remakes, I would love to see them remake Ultima Online. Remake not design though. I can see where you coming from though OP, it does seem lazy sometimes. Nothing wrong with releasing a remake for some cash flow while they work on something else though.
We've never had so many games avaiable and developers making stuff as nowadays.
If you haven't found somethingto engage you in gaming you probably haven't looked hard enough.
I just want Condemned: Criminal Origins, if possible, physical edition steelbook with lenticular sleeve & some extras included.
I totally agree with Drystoner's topic! Stop remakes and remasters, give us new stuff. I would never pay for old game in a new coat but i would buy a sequel or something new. Gladly.

But some remakes are actually really, really good. Like the Resident Evil remakes.
Are they really or is this just a nostalgia trip?
Nah RE4 is known to be one of the best RE games period so no it is really good.

Another necromancer, eh?
To people using RE4 as an example I'm curious when the last time was you played the original? I played RE4 on Steam in October, so just a few months ago and it's 100% still a playable game today, so remaking it doesn't really provide me anything of value. Would you rather they gave you a remake of a game that is still available and playable today, or put that effort into a new game?

The reason Capcom isn't doing new games is because those require more risk, it requires more writers, more character artists, more everything. RE4 exists for no other reason than because it was cheap, easy, and could be done with a smaller budget.

Nobody really wants to innovate anymore and risk losing money on a bad game. Once y'all stop buying the remakes thinking that if you show support for these companies now they'll make what you want, then they might actually stop with the remakes and make what you want.
slowly starting at capcom

yeah but i like capcom's remakes. except re3. good game but lack of content. better play re2 or skip and play re4, both original and remake

I do agree that was not a neccessary remake and yeah companies should def make some effort to innovate even if the Remake on itself was fine and i think i would have prefered new stuff to be fair. This is my current problem with FF7 remake for instance because i am sick and tired of FF7 as a whole i never even actually liked these and Square Enix should definitely make more Final Fantasy games like Stranger of Paradise for instance and publish less stuff like Forspoken lol.

No one want to risk it, especially when hefty sum of money involve.
The cost of making games rising, less people would take the risk.

The market make it this way.
The thing I hate more than remakes is indie devs stealing game designs from popular games. One game stole the entirety of Resident Evil 1.
